Food Processing Workshop with Minister Rob Davies and the Agro-Processing Unit - 23 March 2012
ProduceThe Food-processing sector is an important part of the South African economy, contributing approximately 8% of manufacturing value-add. The sector employs about 177,000 people, making it the largest manufacturing sector by employment.

In recent years the sector has faced a number of challenges - in part - stemming from the impact of the Global Financial Crisis. These include a declining export performance, substantially increased imports into the South African market, and generally low rates of product and process innovation.

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will be hosting a workshop for all Food-processing participants in order to discuss the above challenges and to develop interventions to support industry development.  Minister Rob Davies will deliver a keynote address.  More information»
