 Shalome's Story Shalome is 13 years old. Her father had two wives. Her mother had 7 children, and her dad's other wife had 6 more children. Shalome seldom saw her father. When she was 7 years old, her mother abandoned the family and her father was murdered by robbers, so Shalome and a brother went to live with their stepbrother from her dad's other family. After a few years, Shalome's stepbrother could no longer afford to provide for her and her brother to attend school, so they dropped out. A cousin heard about Restoration Gateway and spoke with the RG social worker in 2010 to tell her about the poor conditions in which they lived. Shalome and her brother came to live at RG. Shalome is happy to be in school again and that she has a sponsor and good care at RG. She says, "I have a [house] mom that loves me. And I have people that hug me. God has a special plan for me, and He brought me to Restoration Gateway for that reason." |
 Shoes from St. Paul's School
St. Paul's Episcopal School recently collected tennis shoes for the children at RG. Art teacher Rose Berryman delivered 53 brand new pairs of tennis shoes to the RG office in Waco, along with a few extras like socks and soccer shin guards. The children will be so excited to receive these tennis shoes! St. Paul's has also donated Bibles and school uniforms to RG.

 Dental Center Update
Many people in northern Uganda endure months and/or years in pain because of unhealthy teeth, and the only solution is extraction by untrained villagers which often leads to further, more serious complications. As a training facility for dental students, dental hygienists, and other allied health professionals, the RG dental center will provide an opportunity to enhance dental care throughout Uganda.
Funds are needed to make the dental center a reality. The estimated cost of construction is $250,000. Donations of any amount are welcomed. In-kind donations of quality equipment are also encouraged. Contact us or visit our website for a list of needed equipment. Every dollar donated for the RG dental center will be matched by a grant from Christian Mission Concerns, up to $100,000. |
