FOR HEALTHY LIVING
For Healthy LivingLast month we introduced you to the first of our our three areas of focus: For Youth Development. This month we'd like to share about our second area of focus: For Healthy Living.

Behind "For Healthy Living" is the fact that across the nation and right here in Virginia, the Y is a leading voice on health and well-being. With a mission centered on balance, the Y brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, millions of youth, adults and families receive the support, guidance and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind and body.

GROUP EXERCISE COMES TO URBANNA!

The Middlesex Family YMCA is conducting group exercise classes for Urbanna this November. Starting Monday, November 1 at 9:30 A.M. the YMCA is offering exercise classes to the town of Urbanna and surrounding localities. "Start fresh today to be a brand new and healthier you. We've made it convenient for the people of upper Middlesex to engage in an active and healthy lifestyle," commented Membership & Wellness Director Cheryl Holleran.

Classes are held in the former Rappahannock Jewlery store across from the ABC Store. Classes consist of low impact aerobics, Yoga, and Zumba. "Consistent exercise sharpens your mind, creates a more peaceful spirit, and a greater self-assurance. There is no better way to take care of yourself while being a part of a supportive and encouraging group of people," asserts Holleran. Interested program participants who are not members of the YMCA may pay $7.00 per class or become a member and enjoy unlimited participation in Urbanna or at the YMCA as part of your monthly membership fee. Current members are welcome to participate at no extra charge.

The class schedule is as follows:

Monday 9:30 -Zumba,

Wednesday and Friday 9:30 - Low Impact Aerobics

Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 -Yoga

Children learn character values as well as sports skills and tactics by incorporating fun and creative games during every practice. Our "games approach" sessions during each practice are designed to better prepare players for competitions. Youth Super Sports programs include; soccer, flag football, basketball, baseball and T-ball.
