Spanish through Spanish Book
We believe that studying Spanish by reading, listening, and speaking in Spanish from the beginning is the best way to learn the language. This program is based on the 1936 text by Estafanía D. de Chávez and has been updated by us, Scott and Gaby Thomas. Everyone has access to the first twelve lessons. With a membership you have access to all the written lessons immediately and to the podcasts as they become available.

Cutting to the Chase
Tim FerrisI recently read a blog article by Tim Ferris, author of The Four Hour Work Week (and conversationally fluent in several languages), in which he discusses how to learn foreign languages more quickly. He suggests asking a speaker of your target language how to translate these six sentences because of how much they reveal about the language. Here they are with the Spanish translations.
  1. The apple is red. La manzana es roja.
  2. It is John's apple. Es la manzana de Juan.
  3. I give John the apple. (Yo) le doy la manzana a Juan.
  4. We give him the apple. (Nosotros) le damos la manzana.
  5. He gives it to John. Él se la da a Juan.
  6. She gives it to him. Ella se la da a él.

You Tube
Padre by AcappellaSinging is a great way to learn a language. It's fun. You can share the songs with others. And the phrases that you learn by heart become a part of your speaking vocabulary. In the article linked below, we've embedded the YouTube video and included the complete lyrics, the English translation, plus vocabulary needed to understand the song.

Listen to and sing along with Acappella as you learn the lyrics to the touching song, Padre.
The Love Chapter
Girl reads Spanish BibleI Corinthians 13 is known as the Love Chapter and has had a long history as part of wedding ceremonies and inspirational songs.  This is how it begins...
