Greetings!
Spring is just around the corner! The snow is finally melting, flowers and trees are budding, and the grass is turning shades of brown to green. This is not only a time of growth and blossoming for the beautiful vegetation around us but it is a time to reflect inside ourselves where we want to grow and blossom in the upcoming season. You can listen to March's Community Call on Keeping the Passion Alive at Work, and the ways we inadvertently stop innovation from happening. Then join us on April 27th for a panel discussion on Building from Sufficiency- Checking in on our experiment. Thank you for your participation!
Gratefully yours,
Jen, Gina and Shea

We are going to spend this month's community call looking at what does it mean to build and create inside of exquisite sufficiency? What are the moments that we have declared milestones on our journey? How can you create a company, team or community inside of Exquisite Sufficiency? Join us for a discussion about what has worked, what hasn't and brainstorm ideas for the future.

Keeping Passion Alive at Work, and the ways we inadvertently stop innovation from happening
Listen to this community call from March 9th.
Our passion is our care - it's the expression of the heart. If you think you have lost yours just take a look at where you are resigned, angry, cynical. Our passion does not die but it can get so thwarted that it can feel like it sours into some kind of rage or complaint. We only complain when we care about something, and if we care, we know our passion is somewhere close by. Even organizations threatened by the toxic moods and practices of resignation, cynicism and gossip and back stabbing, and other acts of mistrust can rest assured passion is close by. When passion is lacking in a culture, somehow, however unwittingly, people within the organization sent a message that it is not ok to give all of oneself. People understand that to exist here they must leave some piece of their passion at home or in the car or at least at the front door. And people will rebel against that loss of passion ultimately, and thankfully, given how integral it is to our well being and our ability to continue to participate and contribute to a system. It's good news when we see signs of rebellion. This mean passion is alive, and given some skill and some commitment, it can be tapped and redirected towards enlivening any organization, any team, any person to giving their gifts back into to the world. Tell us how you keep your passion alive by emailing Jen at jen@sevenstonesleadership.com .

From Our Reading List
The Economics of Enough By Diane Coyle Jen is excited to begin reading The Economics of Enough by Diane Coyle. We are clear at Seven Stones that we must address our economic model as a primary source of scarcity in our society and look forward to learn how Dr. Coyle is framing her take on an economy where enough is a metric of success.
Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard By Chip Heath, Dan Heath The Heath brothers address motivating employees, family members, and ourselves in their analysis of why we too often fear change. Change is not inherently frightening, but our ability to alter our habits can be complicated by the disjunction between our rational and irrational minds. The Heaths speak energetically and encouragingly on how to modify our behaviors and businesses. This clever discussion is an entertaining and educational must-read for executives and for ordinary citizens looking to get out of a rut.
The World Is As You Dream It: Teachings from the Amazon and Andes By John Perkins Perkins is an eco-activist who aims to save not only the rain forest but also the ancient native cultures that make their homes within it. His book offers a thrilling view of those cultures as experienced by American travelers, especially Perkins.
