Greetings!
As we progress towards the release of ExtremePOS Enterprise edition, we'll be bringing a series of articles and videos out to teach the system to those of you who'll be using this new way to handle multistore functionality.

Enterprise Preview
This month, ExtremePOS Enterprise will be going into a small number of field test locations, and we're going to start a series of preview articles showing this functionality.
In this article, we'll be focusing on Corporate, the central management software.

Above is the inventory management screen. From here, you can add or remove items from central management, edit them, and of course search within inventory. Stock levels are not visible here, as the corporate location will not have one.

For data entry, editing or adding items, you'll use the above screen. When using corporate for managing items, pricing and most other fields are centrally managed and cannot be changed at the store level. (At time of sale, discounts and price changes can still be applied, if the employee has sufficient permissions.)
Vendors, Departments, Categories, and Customers are all managed very similarly.

PCI Compliance - Are you at risk?
Studies show that the most at risk companies for a security breech on credit cards are quick food businesses, particularly franchisees. This story summarizes a recent study, and there are valuable lessons for both retail and restaurant owners to be found.
Hidden at the bottom of that article is a note that zero of the breeches investigated found a PCI compliant situation in place. The first step towards PCI compliance is using a PA-DSS validated application. For our customers using integrated payment with ExtremePOS Payment, you can rest assured that we're on the list of validated application. (The list is here, and you can find us by searching for Extreme Software Corporation or under applications for ExtremePOS Payment.)
Additionally, visit pcisecuritystandards.org for the documentation on what you've agreed to follow to process cards. Within the Payment documentation, you can also find a PCI Compliance Guide.

Supplies and You
Don't get stuck paying for express shipping on POS Supplies, such as labels and receipt paper! Make certain you order at least a few days in advance of needing them! Also, consider ordering by the case (12 rolls for labels, 50 for receipt paper) for discount pricing.
