We've had a few people ask about what choices they have for gift cards, within and outside of the system.

First, there are the internal gift cards.  You can either get these printed through us, or you can have them done by an external print shop, depending on how many you need.  These can be used by anyone using ExtremePOS 2.9, regardless of credit card processor.  There is also no need for a constant internet connection; the balances are kept locally on your system.  While currently these can only be used at the store from which they are issued, one of the features of ExtremePOS Enterprise is going to be the ability to use them at other stores within the chain. 

Second, if you are a Mercury Payment Systems user using ExtremePOS Payment, you can use Mercury's gift cards program.  These cards MUST be gotten through Mercury, but may be used multistore now.

Finally, if you don't want physical cards, you can use what is referred to within the program as a gift receipt.  This is a printed slip of paper with a gift card number on it, and otherwise functions identically to the internal gift cards (and may, in fact, be used in combination with those.)  The disadvantage is that they are easily lost and do not look particularly professional, but this is the cheapest option.
