Seasonal Preparations
It's a little early for Christmas shopping, but not too early to plan for the season in your store! If you do used product, consider offering extra on trade-ins for the month of October in order to increase your used inventory. This will allow you to have a wide selection for the holiday shoppers.
If you don't do used product, then you likely need to go ahead and order seasonal music or books.

Employee Theft Prevention
As we've been over before, there are three main sources of retail shrinkage: Employee theft,
customers, and management errors (such as mispricing an item). In this issue, we're going to be focusing on preventing employee theft.
Managing employee permissions through employee maintenance and keeping unique
logins for each employee are good steps towards cutting back on loss in that
area. Another good method is to both habitually review invoices and reports and
for employees to know that you do so.
One of the best ways to prevent theft, however, is to frequently do inventory and make certain that employees are aware of it. Don't have the same employees do the same sections every time; mix it up. Consider using the CIpherlab 8000 mobile batch scanner to allow for minimally disruptive inventorying.

Mercury Gift Cards
Those on the latest version with ExtremePOS Payment now have the ability to use gift cards from Mercury. These cards differ from the internal gift cards, but it is possible to use both on the same system.
The primary benefit of using Mercury gift cards is that a customer can use the card at any of your stores, unlike the internal gift cards which are only valid at the issuing store.
If you are a 2.9 customer with ExtremePOS Payment, and are interested in using Mercury Gift Cards, please contact your Mercury representative for more information.

2.9 Upgrades
If you are on a support plan and have not yet updated to 2.9, please contact support to schedule your upgrade. The update requires approximately two to two and a half hours for a two station system, during which time you will not be able to use the system.
