Feedback Followup
Thank you all for your suggestions!
In addition to numerous smaller reports, we're looking into prioritizing the following list of commonly requested features. Please let us know which of the following you would like to see first:
1. Repair maintenance, for tracking repair or other long term service items.
2. Related items, which will allow you to set a list of suggested items or generate items that frequently sell together to suggest an item that goes well with the one placed on the invoice.
3. A rental program based on having a specific number of titles out at a time; for instance, 1 title out at a time for $15 per month.
4. A layaway feature
If your requested feature isn't on this list, don't despair! Many requests were made for smaller features either already in the works or reports, which will fall under a complete reports revision.

LogMeIn
As many of our customers know, we offer remote control assistance to phone supported customers. Many of our customers have asked how this is done.
We use a third party tool, LogMeIn Rescue. This product is one of a number from LogMeIn, and is secure for one session upon being launched.
For customers looking to have easy remote capability for themselves, LogMeIn's personal product is wonderful. The basic version is free, with a premium version if you need remote printing or if you need file sharing. There's even an app for the iPhone that will allow you to control your PC from your phone, LogMeIn Ignition, though this carries a one-time fee.

Online Marketing
What kind of web presence do you have?
Every store should have a web site of some kind. Even if you don't want to go to the expense of a fully featured site, you should at least get something up with a description of the store, your location, hours, and contact information. This could be done through a service such as Microsoft's Small Business Office Live. If you do decide to get a full site done, we would urge you to consult with a local web designer.
Additionally, you should consider a newsletter (much like the one you're reading now). This can be very effective at communicating new products or new information to your regular customers, as well as occasionally presenting offers and the like.
There are a number of services available for newsletter distribution; the one we use is Constant Contact. Just leaving a signup sheet at the counter can gather at least some addresses for this.

Support Policy - Unsupported Hardware
Increasingly we have been getting support questions about
hardware which was not purchased from us.
Officially, our policy (as found, among other places, in the EULA and
the terms and conditions pages of our website) has always been that we do not
offer support on hardware that was not purchased from Extreme Point of Sale,
Inc.
Due to the increasing amount of support requests on issues
like this, we are going to offer the option to help set up non-supported
hardware for $99 per piece of equipment as of March 30th, 2010. As always, this service is included with any
purchase of hardware from us.
This price is solely for support time and does not guarantee
that your hardware is compatible with the software, or provide any warranty
against malfunction of the hardware.
