Spring Cleaning
Would you go years at a time without changing the oil in your car? Of course not; proper maintenance is the key to getting value from your car's life. By the same means, making certain that your point of sale computers are clean is key to avoiding costly downtime.
There are two main aspects of this: One, which we have mentioned in the past and will continue to emphasize, is keeping your computer clean of viruses and malware. The second, however, you may not think about - the physical cleanliness of your computers.
This article from Microsoft goes over basics of cleaning a computer. While it's intended for a home user, the advice is applicable to business users. In particular, using compressed air to clean out dust can extend the life of your computer's components by years. The primary cause of failure is heat.
As for cleaning a touchscreen, Elo offers the following advice:
Any standard glass cleaner can be used to clean the touchscreen, but
avoid products containing ammonia.
Always spray the glass cleaner on
the cloth or towel and then clean the touchscreen. Glass cleaner sprayed
directly on the monitor could possibly leak inside a non-sealed unit
and cause damage.
Dirt and fingerprints do not affect the operation of a properly sealed
AccuTouch or IntelliTouch touch display. |
