Greetings!
In this issue, we're going to go over the various Soundscan style reports available from Extreme POS. We're also going to go over one of the Sharp models available, the UP-3500. Additionally, we're running a special on Praiz and Musicware bundled systems. Finally, we have an article on one of the underutilized features of our software, Vendor Returns.

Soundscan Reports
Soundscan reporting has long been included with Praiz and Musicware, our Christian bookstore and CD/DVD Store focused products. However, the format of the reports required by Neilson changed last year, with switching over required this year, so customers who have not updated will no longer be able to report.
Additionally, we've recently added support for the Christian Music Trade Association's Christian Soundscan reports; this will allow up to date Praiz customers to report their sales to that organization.

Tough Times
It's impossible to avoid the elephant in the room these days - times are tough. The economy is hurting, and that can affect every business. During these times, it becomes more necessary than ever to carefully track your inventory both for loss prevention and for keeping the right mix of inventory on your shelves.
Instead of using the economy as a reason not to upgrade from your old system, you should consider a point of sale system an investment in getting through the hard times positioned to do well when things recover.
Along those lines, for the month of October we've lowered the prices of bundled Praiz and Musicware systems to $3995 - $500 off our already discounted bundle. Get a turnkey one station solution, including Praiz or Musicware, a barcode scanner, a receipt printer, a cash drawer, a label printer, a PC and monitor, and two hours of online training for a bargain price.
A similar bundle is available for ExtremePOS, costing $3499 without the online training.

Sharp UP-3500
Last month we went over the Sharp UP-810F. This month, we're going to feature the UP-3500 series. The UP-3500 is a touchscreen based embedded POS system, intended for small retail, quick service food, and small dining restaurants. Up to 32 of them can be networked together at a single location. You may also purchase a back office suite of software for detailed reporting, receipt by receipt viewing, and other functionality.
Embedded systems have some advantages and disadvantages compared to open, Windows-based systems such as Extreme POS. While they lack some of the features and power of those systems, they're very resilient - if the power goes out and comes back, the system will resume exactly where it was, with no loss of data. It's also immune to viruses and other concerns that can come up with Windows systems.
We also offer menu programming with our Sharp products to make initial setup easier for the retailer or restaurant owner.

Vendor Returns
A few months ago, we went over the process for doing Purchase Orders. This month, we're going to go over the opposite: Vendor Returns. This feature, often underutilized, allows for generatation of packing slips and stock and cost adjustment on items.
To generate a Vendor Return, follow the steps below:
1. From the invoice screen, under the actions menu, select Vendor Returns.
2. Hit the Add button and select a vendor. Fill out other information as desired.
3. Go to the View/Add Items tab. The top grid represents your inventory; the bottom grid represents your return. Find Item will allow you to find an item on the list; you may add items to the return by double clicking them and choosing a quantity to return.
4. You must save the return before you can finalize it. This also allows you to come back after partially completing a return. Save the return by hitting the save button.
5. Reopen a saved return from the Vendor Returns screen by clicking on it, then clicking edit. From here you may edit the return, or complete it and reflect the changes in your inventory by hitting Finalize Return.
