Greetings!
This time of year, a cool environment can be a major draw of your store. Consider selling sodas or bottled water to draw in people off the street; once they're in, they may make a larger purchase or become a regular.

Customer Accounts
In your POS software, you may maintain a balance on customers - either by extending them credit or by giving them credit on traded in items. What do you need to do to set this up? First, you need customers set up - for more information on this, see the manual. In the customer maintenance screen, there is an account tab that you may access on saved customers. Under this tab, you may see the current balance due, whether the account is open, and the max balance.
Before you can do any transactions using a customer's account, you must open it. You can do this by clicking the 'O' next to the Open Account Date field. You may also want to set a max balance just to insure against your employees extending an unwanted amount of credit. Be aware that setting the max balance to 0 indicates that it is unlimited.
In order to make payments or adjustments, go to the transactions tab. You can see transactions made involving the account, as well as past payments and adjustments. |
Integrated Credit Card Processing
Were you aware that recent versions of Extreme Software Corporation include an integrated credit card processing solution? Mercury Payment Systems offers IP based processing at a low rate! Start saving time today by processing through your internet connection - contact Extreme Point of Sale, Inc, for details. |
Gift Cards
Are you offering gift cards in your store? If not, you should know that they are built in to recent versions of Extreme Point of Sale, Inc. software! We can print up actual cards for you to sell, or you can use printed 'gift receipts' that have the card number on them. In order to sell a gift card, simply follow these steps:
1. Enter gc as the item number.
2. If it is a gift card, select gift card and scan the number from the barcode printed on the card. If it is a receipt, select gift receipt and either make up your own number or push autogenerate to have the system do it for you.
3. Enter the amount and hit okay. Finish the transaction as normal and your customer will have a card.
In order to accept a gift card, simply hit gift at the tender screen and scan or type the card number. The amount will default to the lesser of either the cost of the transaction or the balance of the card, though you may edit this.
To find out even more about gift cards, consult the most recent version of the manual, available from the web page by filling out a free trial form and then following the manual link provided at the trial page.
