Meet The Bands...

DAVE MASON is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Worcester, UK who first found fame with the rock band Traffic. In his long career, Mason has played and recorded with many of the era's most notable musicians including Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Mama Cass Elliot. Mason's best known song is "Feelin' Alright" recorded by Traffic in 1968 and covered by dozens of artists, including Joe Cocker, who had a major hit with the song in 1969. For Traffic, he also wrote "Hole in My Shoe" a kind of psychedelic satire that became a classic in its own right. THE BRITISH YANKEES formed in 1991 and have played major venues in New England such as Foxwoods Casino and The House of Blues. Their annual tour of the UK includes a headlining performance at the prestigious Felixstowe Yacht Racing Regatta on the southeast coast of England. Over the years, the band has developed an exciting, high-energy show that features some of the best music from the British Rock and Blues Revolution in the 60's. Frontman Vernon Northover, who was born and raised in the United Kingdom, takes you on a journey through one of the most incredible periods in music history - the invasion of British blues, which changed the course of rock 'n roll forever. From the humble beginnings of skiffle to the immense feel of arena rock, this musical journey traces the career moves of English artists such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Green, John Mayall, as well as the timeline of classic British bands including the Animals, the Yardbirds, Cream, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and of course the Beatles. The British Yankees' latest CD "Legendary Knights" is a regular feature of WZLX's "Sunday Morning Blues" with Carter Alan, and highlights James Montgomery on harp and vocals.
