Meet the Bands...

HOTHOUSE FLOWERS are an Irish rock group that combines traditional Irish music with influences from soul, gospel and rock.  The group first formed in 1985 when Liam Ó Maonlaí and Fiachna Ó Braonáin (who had known each other as children in an Irish-speaking school, Coláiste Eoin) began performing as street musicians, or buskers, on the streets of Dublin, Ireland as "The Incomparable Benzini Brothers". They were soon joined by Peter O'Toole, and had won a street-entertainer award within a year. They renamed the group "Hothouse Flowers" and began writing songs and performing throughout Ireland. Rolling Stone magazine called them "the best unsigned band in Europe".  In 1986 Bono from the band U2, saw the Flowers performing on television and offered his support. They released their first single, "Love Don't Work This Way", on U2's Mother Records label, which quickly led to a deal with the PolyGram subsidiary London Records.  Their first album, People was released in early 1988 and was the most successful debut album in Irish history.

With their fifth and latest studio album, 'Into Your Heart', Hothouse Flowers are stealing their way into hearts everywhere. "The one thing I tell everyone," says Hothouse Flowers guitarist Fiachna O'Braonain, "is that this record is the most raw, soulful record we have ever done." Coupling the Flowers' hunger for a solid soul sound along with the distinctive, instantly recognizable vocals of lead singer Liam O Maonlai, 'Into Your Heart' is the sound of a band in love with their music - and completely comfortable with the many roots and sources that give their music its unique vibe.  Visit Hothouse Flowers' official website:  www.hothouseflowers.com

RISING TRIBE is classified as an alternative rock band, but fans enjoy its varied musical styles, including Country, Celtic and Reggae. The band's songs deal with a range of emotional topics, from love to history to human rights. Memorable melodies and relatable, poetic lyrics fuse with funky bass lines, driving percussion, multi-genre violin riffs, and intense vocals to create the Tribe sound.  At the end of 2008, Rising Tribe released its debut album, Back to the Water. The album continues to be played on Americana, AAA, and college radio stations. The band is wrapping up its second album, Land of the Free, this year. It will feature several political songs, including the popular "Time's the Time."  Tiffany Gassett is the founder and heart of Rising Tribe, writing all of the band's original music, including those on the debut album, such as "Walking Song" and "In Pain."  And yes, the accent you hear on her Reggae tunes is real -- she grew up on the island of St. Thomas.  Visit Rising Tribe's official website: www.risingtribemusic.com.  Check out Rising Tribe's music on MySpace:  www.myspace.com/risingtribe

What's New at Skyworks Productions?

Skyworks Productions is in the preliminary stages of putting together a 4-night Music & Arts Festival at Sea aboard Royal Caribbean's mega-ship, The Navigator of the Seas for a Spring 2011 Western Caribbean sailing.

Throughout the cruise, live bands and solo artists will be performing in various venues onboard. We will have yoga classes, painting demonstrations and instruction, drum workshops, and an onboard lecture series focusing on holistic and green living as well as the evolution of consciousness.

The highlight of the Music & Arts Festival at Sea will be a stop in Cozumel, Mexico where we will visit the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum and learn about Mayan culture and the 2012 prophecies.

Also on the agenda is a live acoustic performance at the ruins, and a GRAND concert performance onboard the ship in the main theatre on the last night of the cruise.  As the program develops, we'll keep you updated and post the details on our website: www.skyworksmusic.com.

We hope that you'll join us on this enlightening musical voyage!
