A MOTHERS DAY WISH
Annual online auction and direct appeal raising money to replenish DAP's Emergency Fund.
Did you know that DAP receives just over $5,000 annually from government agencies for the Emergency Fund to help women in crisis, and that money is depleted in just six months. Did you know that items bought by YOU from the DAP Mother's Day Online Auction will help raise an additional $5,000 to cover the Emergency Fund for the remainder of the year?
There are 2 awesome ways to support the Emergency Fund.
- Make a donation online by clicking here.
- Purchase an item on DAP's online auction that runs April 20 - May 5. Items will be mailed in time to arrive for Mother's Day.
This Mother's Day let your mother or special guardian know her impact on your life has not gone unnoticed, and make a personalized donation in her name. Honorees will receive a one-of-a-kind Mother's Day card (produced pro bono with DAP sponsors), to let her know that she has been honored with a gift to DAP in her name. Gifts in memory will be sent to the recipient(s) of your designation.

Jackie Stevenson, friend to DAP
We are saddened to report that Jackie Stevenson, former President of the DFL Feminist Caucus and important political friend, died on Sunday, April 22. Jackie served on DAP's board for six years and, of course, served on our public policy committee. She always hosted a table at DAP's annual Transforming Families luncheon and invited Senators, Representatives, County Commissioners and others to hear about DAP's work and the importance of safety for victims and accountability for abusers. I could always count on Jackie to give me the inside scoop or talk to a public policy person who needed a nudge.
I first met Jackie when she was working with an attorney in the carriage house of the building next to DAP's 204 West Franklin office. We had many conversations in DAP's parking lot about politics and domestic violence issues. At that time she was on the board for Sojourner in Minnetonka. She was instrumental in creating Sojourner Shelter back in the 70's!
I join with others around Minnesota who will miss Jackie greatly and feel Minnesota has lost a shining star.
A celebration of Jackie's life will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 11:00AM
at North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, 710 Olive Street, St. Paul.
