What IS An Energy Vampire & How Can You Tell When One is Underfoot?

Technically speaking, we all know what things are considered energy "drains" ... the heavy use of air conditioners, television sets, or other items requiring a lot of electrical power. Left unattended, these appliances can be considered "energy vampires" and we'll know it when we see our excessive electrical bills! Well, there is another kind of an "energy vampire," the kind that is harder to "see" but can actually take a greater toll on us if we don't "turn on the inner light" and become aware...

This kind of vampire may be exposed when we have a feeling or sensation when we are around certain people or when we do something that somehow seems to "sap" our energy. Do you know of anyone who "brings YOU down" or robs YOU of your joy?

Top Ten Clues That an Energy Vampire May Be Underfoot... (or Top Ten Outrageous Benefits of Feeling Powerless)

Clues that an energy vampire may be underfoot... someone who

Compromises or settles (says "yes" when you/they mean "no")
Hides or withdraws or manipulates (works in the dark, is not transparent)
Projects attack or acts like a victim (sees doom and gloom in everything/everyone)
Denies or blames; refuses to take full responsibility and basically acts like a child
Won't take "no" as an answer
Steals your time (they keep coming at you)
Uses techniques such as bullying, guilt, or manipulating in order to get you to agree or do something you really don't want to do
Is addicted to Perfection- can't admit when "enough is enough" and keeps going until there's nothing left or until something's been ruined
Lacks self-confidence, faith, or trust... hems and haws, see-saws, self-doubt, second-guessing

Keynote: Tireless Joy and the Nectar of Life

The other day, while on a coaching call, I spotted the strangest, erratic movement of a bird out in front, flitting madly from one branch to another. I couldn't believe my eyes when I realized it was a tiny hummingbird!

Needless to say, I had to look it up in my favorite resource by Ted Andrews called Animal-Speak. What follows is an excerpt.

Hummingbirds have knowledge of how to use flowers for healing. They can teach you how to draw the life essence from them and create your own medicines...The hummingbird is the most skillful flyer of all birds. It can hover in the air. It can fly backward, forward and sideways. In fact, it cannot walk; it flies everywhere. It reminds us that if we truly enjoy what we are doing, we become light as a feather, and life is rich with nectar.

The iridescent colors have also caused it to be associated with rain. More specifically, it is associated often with the rainbow of promise that follows the rain. Individuals with hummingbird totems should watch their own sugar levels. Are yo getting too much or too little? Are you not getting enough sweetness in your life? Are you not savoring the sweet things of life?

The hummingbird is a symbol for accomplishing that which seems impossible. It will teach you how to find the miracle of joyful living from your own life circumstances.
