Happy "Mother Yourself" Day, Today, and

Every Day!

It no longer matters whether or not others think I am a good mom. Or what I think or thought about my own mother. Or whether or not my daughter tries to imagine me as an alien, a mermaid, or fairy. It no longer matters because I am clear about this: Can I be the best mother I can be, TO ME? For the rest, I chose to say: "What you think of me is none of my business."

What I think of me IS my business. So, I can get hung up on my self-made stories of how I am this or that, good/bad, successful or not... All stories, all illusions, all sources of misery. Or, I could look at each day as my opportunity to be the best mom I could be.2011_05_04_Gosling

When I used to carry baby Delphine is an Over-the-Shoulder-Baby-Holder (sling), grown men would say to me: "I wish I had a mom like you!" I would answer "You do - Mother Earth! She's got you in her giant sling right now!" So, knowing that, I get to keep myself in a loving embrace, taking care of my immediate needs of providing myself with healthy food, exercise, love, rest, attention to feelings, and providing myself with  good company. What a relief! What a joy. Goodness follows invariably.

How about you? We all have a mother/father in us. Are you a good mom to yourself? Are you experiencing joy and bliss and success in your personal and professional live? If not, have you had  enough? If you'd like to schedule a "Power to Change" conversation with me, pick up the phone!

Quote of the Month

Hey Ho Merry Mischievites!

A Poem I write for thee

in the Month of Poetry!

"Now are the days of Love & Lust

Here is the Springtime renewal of your Being!

May the cold grey of winter be washed away from thee

May the Flowers bloom in your heart once again

Green fertility of ideas, friendship and life grow within you.

May the Gods of the Earth and Sky be good to you,

.......as you are good to others."

Tree "Consumes" Guardrail

2011_05_05_Tree_with_Guardrail .

On my walk on the Hackensack River Pathway yesterday, I was stunned when I caught sight of this phenomenon... a large tree had consumed a 4 - 6 foot section of a guardrail! What a metaphor that provided me... How many of us have internalized a block and we've had it embedded so long, we don't even know it's there? It may be obvious to other people but not to ourselves!

I have discovered that this is a pretty frequent "condition" that is typically the cause for our many attempts to fix something about ourselves and yet doesn't seem to "stick" or last very long. Do you know what I mean? I certainly have had a lot of personal experience with this myself. It's only been in the past few years since I've been fortunate enough to be working with Mahalene Louis and the Path of XPR that I've had enormous help discovering my internalized guardrails and other blocks to being real!

Can you relate? Have you noticed that, despite all your attempts to control, monitor, or otherwise handle something about yourself (or others), you just can't quite "get it"? Have you had enough frustration and pain over "it" but don't quite know what to do? Perhaps your gift to yourself today is to schedule a "Power to Change" conversation with me, Verena, and together, we'll show you the possibilities via the Path of XPR.  Call me at 201-487-6910 and let's see what kind of sustainable "magic" we can create together!

Animal of the Month

LaTale Ant Queen
Ant

KEYNOTE:  Industriousness, Order, and Discipline

CYCLE OF POWER:

A week ago or so, we had several seemingly stray ants visit our second-floor apartment. Yup, they like sweets and had found an M&M dispenser over the weekend while we were out. Walking around our building, it's impossible NOT to step on a mound here and there. Spring time seems to put them into high gear. just like it does the rest of the natural world. I thought it appropriate to see what ant might be communicating to me. In total synchronicity, I have found myself searching out every crumb (a pre-Passover ritual, actually), to find out how and where I am over-spending or simply "not thinking" while purchasing. Finding my way back to focus and discipline has been my goal. Exercising for an average of 30 minutes a day for 10 weeks is in place and is so gratifying. What might ants teach you? Here are some excerpts from Ted Andrews' Animal-Speak:

The any has long been a symbol of work and industry. Partly this is due to the Greek tales of the ant, such as is found in Aesop's Fables. Their wisdom and intellect in their endeavors is often acclaimed. There are many types of ants, some of which are solitary, but most of which are part of a larger community. Though drudgery is often associated with them, this is far from true. When by themselves, they display simple and uncomplicated behavior patterns. Within the community, there is a repertory of activities and behaviors. (...)

The ant is the teacher of how to build, how to become the architect of your own life.  It can show you how to construct your dreams in to a reality.  It will show you that the greatest success occurs with persistence.

If the ant has shown up as a totem, examine your own industriousness. Are you disciplining yourself enough to accomplish the tasks at hand? Are you or those around you looking for the quick and easy way? Are you neglecting important activities? Are you laying a good foundation? Are you adding new structures to your life with each passing year in some fashion -- education, jobs, hobbies, etc.? Are you being patient with your efforts? Are you being patient with yourself? With others? Are you ;making things greater and more difficult than they need be? are you missing an opportunity to initiate new creations and endeavors?

Ant can teach you how to harness your own power to design and recreate your life and its circumstances from the ground up. Ant can show you how to best to work with others for the good of everyone. Ant teachers us that regardless of circumstances, if the effort is true, the rewards will follow -- in the most beneficial time and manner. Ant is the promise of success through effort.

Can You Spot the Junior Harry Potter in this Photo?

2011_03_19_Sam_Thompson_Harry_Potter_Bubbles

We had superb weather on Delphine's 10th birthday party in March. I had asked my cousin's wife, Shannon Johnson, to take the camera out back when the kids were off to play with the bubble blowers. She captured this exquisite moment in time. The boy creating the magic is the son of Delphine's wonderful teacher, (see the woman with long hair and glasses on the left side)...
