Top Ten Benefits of Creating & Sharing Vibrant Visions (Photographs) of Your New Contacts

Author: Verena Visser Aibel

As some of you know, I love to take photos of people that I meet! I did this recently at a GREAT New Jersey Professional Coaches Association meeting featuring Michael Charest and Karla Richardson. There are so many fun and useful purposes for doing this. In an email exchange with Janice Bastani, I decided to flesh out a new top ten! Let me know if any of this resonates with you! Now, "Go forth and be Vibrant!" Blessings, Verena Visser Aibel, www.VibrantCoach.com

1. Flattering & Fun: Asking someone if you can take their photo can be a fun ice breaker!

2. Continue the Connection: Email your photo to your new contact and add a note about where you met, what you spoke about, etc. Doing this in a timely and sincere fashion can open the door for more connection, referrals, and business development!

3. Memory Aid: A photo can help remind you of a person when they contact you (puts a name to a face for future reference)

4. Data Matching / Retention: Match people with their name and contact info. (I ask for their card so that I can email them a copy of the picture)

5. Visual Dimension: You can add your new photo of your contact in your address book as you enter their contact information

6. Visual Cue: When you email a person, or receive one from them, their photo will automatically appear (Apple computer)

7. Permission & Promotion: Ask permission to use their photo in your newsletter or post on your website or organization's website. As a courtesy, link their photo or the name with their website.

8. Newsletter Subscription: Ask if person being photographed would like to receive your newsletters in the future

9. Speaker/Resource Data Base: A photo adds a visual cue as you build your data base of speakers and other contacts for reference purposes (thanks, Janice Bastani)

10. Promotional Purposes: Ask someone to take YOUR picture to set you in the scene and give you a photo to use for PR, newsletter, Sales/Marketing.

Reset Button

He discovered his reset button early on & there were not many things that bothered him all the rest of his days just because of that.

Center on Wheels

I spent a long time trying to find my center until I looked closely one night & found it had wheels & moved easily in the slightest breeze, so now I spend less time sitting and more time sailing.

2009 NJAWBO VV Bus Card Exchange Creating Order Out of Chaos

In the words of Bob Dylan, "The times they are a- changin." I am in the midst of a major life transition which is followed a personal transformation. Funny how that happens... While utilizing all my nifty skills learned from my own coaches, parents, friends, support groups, and therapists from years gone by, I have developed a few of my own. Such as Top Ten writing and making collages.
2009 NJAWBO VV Bus Card Exchange
Most recently, I undertook to re-master two previous collages (one from 10 years ago and one from 5 years ago). I had envisioned the collages as a chance to  commemorate, synthesize, and expand on events, themes, and capture inspirational images and texts. I have photos liberally sprinkled throughout the collages.

In an inspired moment, I had invited my daughter to create a collage for herself. She ended up doing a scrapbook with the help of her friend. Even the kitties got involved.2009 VV Earthly Collage in progress We all worked side by side and when we came up for air, we saw that what we had done was good. Thank you, my Muses!
