A Mother's Day Poem by Verena
Mom is a handful, she never gives up
Tell her "No, you can't do that!" and she'll show you up,
out of spite.
Feisty, you say? No, that's not the word,
My mother is Incorrigible; it's true what you've heard!
I know she's a foreigner, proudly, it's true,
She thinks what she wants to and she'll tell it to you!
Don't ask my mom to compromise,
It's not in her vo-cab-u-lary.
Her motto is "Go for the gusto and the heck with what's acceptable!"
Mom, I love you, you're the perfect mom for me,
You've put up with all my zaniness (wonder where THAT came from!),
Always encouraging me to be the best me I can be.
Your knowledge of the world and its wicked ways,
Pains you deeply, I know, and I pray,
Visualizing a world full of people who enjoy wonderful days.
I admire you and Dad, truly, for your vigor and honesty,
Knowing that you will walk a mile (or 30), to make the world better for Delphine!
Your stand for peace and democracy, you take up to the White House
Not caring if you get carted off, as long as your home-made banner
Got in the local press!
