Happy International Nurses Day! May 12: the birthday of Florence Nightingale more 190 years ago today. As the centennial year of her death, 2010 has been designated as International Year of the Nurse.

Kudos to these Alumni
Melissa Mordecai (nee Precour), MSN '10, will receive the Stanley S. Bergen, Jr., MD, Medal of Excellence at the UMDNJ-School of Nursing Honors Convocation to be held May 24 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Mordecai, who is Vice President of the SN Alumni Association, completed the Acute/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner program in Jan 2010. She earned her ASN degree ('01) from the UMDNJ/ Middlesex County College program, and her BSN ('06) from the UMDNJ/Ramapo College program. She was nominated by Professor David Unkle for her clinical excellence, leadership, scholarly activity and community service.

Deborah Zastocki, RN, DNP '08, Chilton Memorial Hospital's president and
CEO, was honored as one of New Jersey's 2010 Best 50 Women in Business
by NJBIZ. The only nurse to receive the 2010 award, Zastocki has served
as vice president, senior vice president and CNO at the hospital since
