Cabinet celebrates Ebenezer UMC   

 
Each of Holston's 12 district superintendents are inviting pastors to share success stories of churches displaying "Vital Congregation" qualities during Cabinet meetings. The Rev. Ann Robins recently reported that Ebenezer United Methodist Church has grown in membership (42 percent), Sunday school attendance (38 percent), and giving (70 percent) in six years.

Updates: The Treasurer's office has received $9,895 from Holston churches in response to a March 20 appeal to help victims of recent storms. This week, Knox Housing Partnership awarded a $20,000 grant to Holston Disaster Response to aid ongoing and future work. (More information to come.) Meanwhile, the Rev. Reece Fauscett requests volunteers to complete three houses in Dade County's final recovery effort for April 2011 damage.

Will small, rural churches have a voice in a reconfigured United Methodist Church? "The reality is the focus seemingly is almost always on the fastest-growing areas where there are lots of people," says the Rev. Roger Grace. president of the United Methodist Rural Fellowship.
