Grocer to Open Store Near Downtown Detroit by Sheena Harris / Crain's Detroit Business |
|
Downtown Foodland, an independent grocer, plans to open a 14,000-square-foot store inside The Shops at Lafayette Park retail center in Detroit.
The new grocery store is expected to open by March. The space is being leased through Southfield-based First Commercial Realty & Development Co. Inc., which bought the center near downtown in November 2004.
"It was a long time in coming, but we have realized our goal of signing a grocery tenant to anchor the shopping center and, more importantly, to serve the shopping needs of the local community," First Commercial President William Watch said in a statement issued Friday.
Other tenants in the shopping center include Sala Thai restaurant, Paris Cafe, State Farm Insurance, Intus nightclub and Labor Ready, an employment service. |
