Pheasant Season Opens Oct. 15 Adventure out to a hunter's paradise in Southeast South Dakota! Come take a shot at our state bird, The Chinese Ringnecked Pheasant. Our Southeast South Dakota landscape provides an excellent habitat for pheasants. Each year, thousands of hunters descend upon our area in pursuit of harvesting this beautiful bird. Cogan House and Dakota Custom Hunt, just east of Springfield, are offering two special package deals for pheasant hunting. Their offers include; lodging, meals, guides for hunting, and travel assistance. Cogan House has even offered to customize a special package for the hunter and his "non-hunting significant other".
