5 Helpful Tips for Practicing Bikram Yoga in the Summer...
1. Hydrate Properly. Please drink between 24-32 oz of water before class. Bring water to class in a stainless steel water bottle. Drink between 24-32 oz after class for each hour of practice.
2. Replenish Electrolytes. They include: potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium. Other than in food and vitamins, electrolytes are found in: Trace Minerals, Vitacoco Coconut Water, ReCharge, EmergenC packets, Cytomax, Vitamin Water, Gatorade, and SmartWater. We sell most of these at the studio!
3. Maintain Proper Nutrition. Since you burn ~800 calories in one Bikram Yoga class, you need fuel to burn. If you did not get a chance to eat enough or are fasting, please do not take class. An empty stomach is recommended before class although if you have a high metabolism, light foods easily digested are ok to consume as late as 45 minutes before class: fruit (apple with peanut/almond butter), Sweet Salvation bars, nut mix, avocado, carrots or celery with hummus,...
4. Yoga Attire. Sweating is the body's primary defense against over-heating and bare skin allows your body to release more heat. Ladies and gentlemen, now is the perfect time to bust out the short shorts; we have a beautiful selection for all shapes and sizes! Also, please refrain from covering your head- this includes bandanas.
5. Caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic and a stimulant. A diuretic increases excretion of water from the body. Drinking lots of caffeine can lead to dehydration. Consider cutting back on your caffeine intake and increase your water consumption. Water flushes away toxins and keeps your brain sharp!

5. Cool off and wash your yoga mat in the pool after class! Yoga mats should be cleaned after every class. Use mild soap and water and/ or spray down with water and tea tree oil, a natural disinfectant.
6. You will look and feel more confident in your skin, and of course your swimsuit!
