Representative Tipton promises to keep funding ban in place while working on language for long term legislation.
Thank you Mr. Tipton for your statement in Trinidad this past Tuesday night that you would be keeping the funding ban in place while working on legislation for a more permanent end to expansion of Pinon Canyon. Thank you also for asking your staff to contact Dorothy Robyn, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Installations and Environment) to push for removal of the waiver that office originally granted.
We look forward to seeing those positive efforts and permanently removing the cloud of doom due to the threatened expansion of Pinon Canyon.
The House Office of Legislative Council is said to be working on verifying or 'vetting' the verbiage that was presented to Mr. Tipton by N1MA and PCEOC recently. (the lawyers we believe Rep Tipton was speaking of that are reviewing legislative language for more permanent solution) (Here is a link that provides some more insight into that process)
Congressman Tipton also spent the day Tuesday with county commissioners from three of the many counties opposed to expansion. He heard and saw first hand the issues with the first taking of Pinon Canyon and we truly believe he will back up his words with actions. He understands that there are also multitudes of other counties and cities and towns and communities that are also against expansion of Pinon Canyon.
Please be sure to call and write him and let him know you appreciate his words on stopping the expansion and look forward to seeing them become reality soon. His phone and office locations are below.
Please also call all our other Representatives and ask them to support Congressman Tipton in the effort. For other contact information CLICK HERE
