We have come a long way in 2 1/2 years but the next few months will be critical
The Army 'report' admits they will be back so the 100,000 acres is a ruse. Allard saying they won't use eminent domain is a ruse. It's against the congressional mandate but they're still going forward.
Here are the issues we will be addressing the next few weeks:
1. We need our continuing, ongoing support letters to John Salazar and Marilyn Musgrave to keep support behind get the '09 moratorium to be continued in the Senate. Senator Salazar needs to know we need him to put an all out effort to get it through the Senate.
2. Senator Allard is trying to introduce legislation under the guise of removing the threat of eminent domain - in order for him to try to get AUTHORIZATION FOR EXPANSION. We must continue to push to get the moratorium supported. Allards specific reports and processes HE ORDERED won't be completed at least until January. So what's the rush we wonder?
3. Assistant Secretary to the Army Eastin told us directly that they would go elsewhere if they couldn't get 100,000 acres. But now he's backing out on that statement. We need to keep this in front of everyone - even now they are saying 'trust us' and the next sentence is 'not my job' or they just ignore the law.
4. Getting public comment in on the Army report that was just submitted. WE NEED EVERYONE TO SEND COMMENTS IN. We have also tried to make it easy for you by adding a page to our website to help do that. You can access the actual report, review the PCEOC Comments and send your comment from THIS PAGE.
