| We need to support our state and federal representatives in opposing the brazeness and unlawfulness of our Pentagon.
The blatant violation of the congressional ban on spending on Pinon Canyon MUST be met with the toughest and strongest opposition possible. This is just cause for every single American to stand up with our legislators and say 'ENOUGH'.

Dear Editor:
I am appalled at the Army's most recent appeal to Southeastern Colorado for the proposed Pinon Canyon Expansion. The reduction in the proposed expansion from 416,000 acres to 100,000 acres is simply not acceptable. I am not even certain why such a discussion is even taking place.
The Musgrave/Salazar Amendment is clear, but it is also clear that the Department of Defense is circumventing the intent of Congress. The Musgrave/Salazar Amendment, and one year moratorium, clearly states the intent of a Congress that overwhelmingly supported the amendment.
I firmly stand with my constituents in opposition to the Pinon Canyon Expansion, and I will urge Senator Salazar and Senator Allard to do the same. I extend a hearty thanks to Representative Musgrave and Representative Salazar for their diligent efforts to protect Southeastern Colorado's culture, heritage, economy, and land. The Department of Defense should be ashamed for not following and abiding by the will of the people or the intent of Congress.

THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION, NO FUNDING, NO CONGRESSIONAL APPROVALS, SO THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY DISCUSSIONS OR ACTIONS TO EXPAND PINON CANYON. PERIOD.
ANY OTHER 'OPTIONS' OR 'CONSIDERATIONS' ARE GETTING THE 'CART BEFORE THE HORSE' AND NEED TO BE COMPLETELY HAULTED.
WE CAN'T LET THEM GET ONE FOOT IN THE DOOR.
NO EXPANSION AND NO FUNDING. |
