Jennifer Kaplan Announced 2009 Bronze Sierra Award Recipient
PRIME 3's own Jennifer Kaplan was recently awarded the 2009 Bronze Sierra Award by Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kaplan has been involved with the Foundation for the past 5 years. She was selected as an AZ's Finest Honoree in 2005, has chaired the AZ's FINEST event for the past 2 years and is currently serving as the Vice President of the Arizona Executive Board for the Foundation.
The Bronze Sierra, presented at the annual Wine and 65 Roses Gala, is awarded to individuals, organizations or businesses who have shown an outstanding commitment to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. Past recipients include former Phoenix Suns players Dan Majerle and Alvan Adams; former Arizona Diamondbacks Pitcher, Randy Johnson; former Phoenix Suns Coach Cotton Fitzsimmons; Del E Webb Foundation and Sports Illustrated's Frank Deford.

Ortiz Family Foundation Offers Money for College Books
The Ortiz Family Foundation is currently accepting applications for their 3rd Annual Word O.F.F. the Page Aid for Books Program which will provide selected students one $500 gift certificate to the college book store for two consecutive semesters for the purchase of text books and supplies.
The program is open to graduating high school seniors planning to attend an Arizona community college in the Fall and current Arizona community college students with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight Mountain Standard Time July 1, 2009. Late applications will not be considered.

Actor's Youth Theatre Presents Annie Jr., March 12-14
From March 12th to March 14th Actor's Youth Theatre will perform the Broadway classic Annie Jr. at Shepherd Jr. High School, in Mesa. Annie Jr., based on the popular Broadway musical, "Annie," tells of a spunky, Depression-era orphan who is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan.
The AYT cast, made up entirely of the Valley's most talented youth ranging in age from 8 to 18, will perform Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm; Friday, March 13, 2009 at 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm; and Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Tickets are $12 at the door.

Starting on Friday, March 20th, Arizona Cardinals Defensive End Bertrand Berry and the Bertrand Berry Foundation will host the 4th Annual Bertrand Berry Celebrity Weekend. 11th Annual AZ's FINEST Event, June 20
This year the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Arizona Chapter, will honor 20 single men and women from across the Valley as the 2009 AZ's FINEST Honorees. AZ's FINEST is designed to spotlight Arizona's most influential trendsetters, honoring their professional and charitable accomplishments. As part of their recognition, each Honoree agrees to raise a minimum of $3,000 on behalf of CFF which will be quickly translated into scientific advances. Ninety cents of every dollar raised is used to fund the science to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, the CF Care Centers at Phoenix Children's Hospital and the University Medical Center in Tucson. The AZ's FINEST event, hosted by ABC 15 Anchor, Katie Raml, will take place on June 20, 2009, at the Ritz Carlton in Phoenix.
