Keeping It Fresh

It's been six months (maybe seven?) since we've released an issue of Smart Talk and we're sorry for our absence!

We're back and things have changed a lot since we last saw you.

In January, we announced Arment Dietrich is no longer a PR firm. We won PR Blog of the Year! Just today we re-launched Spin Sucks to provide more content, experts, industry innovations, and guest bloggers. And, through social networking, we've met some pretty impressive people, including Les McKeown, the author of "Predictable Success".

We tell you this because Les has kindly donated 10 books to us for a guest blog contest!

Announcing...The Predictable Success C-Level Blog Contest

Who can enter: Those who hold a c-level position. Not you? Feel free to pass along or help write an entry for a c-level executive in your company.

How to enter: Submit a brief account (no more than 500 words) of an obstacle you've overcome in growing your company as it relates to the lifecycle of businesses described in "Predictable Success" (highlighted in this blog post or in the reviews on Amazon). Blog posts can be ghost written by someone on your staff, as long as it is your story and approved by you.

How the winners will be chosen: We will choose the 10 best blog posts, as they relate to the book, and those will be featured as guest posts on Spin Sucks. From that pool of 10, Les McKeown will choose one grand prize winner.

The prizes: All 10 winners receive a copy of "Predictable Success." The grand prize winner also will be invited to participate in a one-on-one interview with Les McKeown that will be posted on his site, as well as on Spin Sucks (where you will reach an audience of 15,000).

When this contest will take place: We will begin accepting submissions on July 8. Submissions will be accepted no later than midnight CT on July 21. Winners will be notified no later than July 28. Please email submissions, in a Word document, to Dan Hindin. If you are a winner, we will ask you for a two sentence bio and a photo to use on the blog.

Quick Tips: Using Email Marketing

Communication and marketing via the web are quickly becoming some of the more powerful tools in business today. Because of the web's global reach, efficiencies, and ability to make it work for you while you sleep, the Internet is more effective than any of the traditional tools we're accustomed to using.

Enter email marketing. According toThe State of Retailing Online 2009: Marketing report, 89 percent of retailers cited email as the most successful marketing tactic overall. The benefits of email are just as great for B2B businesses. According to Shop.org, email marketing delivers sales at an average cost per order of less than $7, as compared to $71.89 for banner ads, $26.75 for paid search, and $17.47 for affiliate programs.
