Quarterly Highlights: We are making an impact!

Parenting Place has been busy this year. Here are some highlights:

We rolled out two new programs: Incredible Years Parenting Skills & Cooking Matters. Both programs are evidence-based and provided in both Spanish and English to our families for FREE!

25 support and play groups are offered each week. These represent seven [7] different language groups and four [4] different site locations [Boulder, Broomfield, Lafayette & Longmont].

We recently announced our new collaboration with Sister Carmen in Lafayette. The need in East Boulder County for family support services in growing and Parenting Place is taking this seriously. We will soon share space with Sister Carmen in their new building in Lafayette as part of our commitment to serving East Boulder County.

"Parenting Place is My Greatest Source of Support!"

Kit came to Parenting Place two years ago after arriving in Boulder from California as a single mother to a five-week old infant. When she first arrived in Boulder, she came to Parenting Place to get help with resources as well as support and guidance around establishing a life for herself and her baby.

In the past two years, she has participated in a number of Parenting Place services, including the Parent-Infant Support group, the Parent-Toddler group, the single mother's group, as well as one-on-one counseling sessions.

Six months ago, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer. The entire Single Mother's group stepped in to help provide childcare and bring her meals as she studied for the LSAT & completed law school applications. Last month she received a letter of acceptance from her first choice school: the University of Denver's Law School. The entire Single Mother's group felt a shared sense of pride, recognizing that with Kit's hard work and the group's help, she was able to achieve her lifelong goal. Her long-term plan is to specialize in family law, as she feels passionate about helping single parents in need.

Gala Sponsors help Parenting Place raise $30,000

March 5, 2011 friends of Parenting Place got together to have fun, bid on great items and raise funds for our programs. Thank you to: Cook & Associates, Camera, Ball Aerospace & Technology, Beh Management Consulting, Boulder Medical Center, Flatirons Bank, CBIZ MeyersDining, InfoPrint Solutions, SWBC Mortgage and Eight Days a Week

Flatirons Construction, its employees and Alpine Printing Gave our Donation Closet a Makeover

Parenting Place's Donation Closet and Food Pantry are visited over 5,000 times each year. The Donation Closet was in disarray and Flatirons Construction, aided by a financial contribution from Alpine Printing, came to the rescue by raising the money and giving their time to give it a makeover. The space is so much more usable now! A big thanks from the families who use that Donation Closet!

Crocs holds Diaper Drive for Parenting Place

The number one requested item from Parenting Place are diapers. We found ourselves running out on a regular basis so when Crocs Cares asked what they could do for Parenting Place we asked for a diaper drive and they delivered! A special thanks to Xilinx who has agreed to hold a Diaper Drive in the fall.

Sponsors needed for our upcoming fundraiser, Girls Night Out! Our 7th annual Girls Night Out draws a fun crowd of gals to enjoy unique, eco-friendly shopping, food, wine tasting and fun at the elegant Rembrandt Yard, November 16, 2011. Sponsorships start at $500 and include marketing and sampling opportunities to an important demographic--Parenting Place supporters and women!

Parenting Place is a nonprofit organization strengthening families in Boulder and Broomfield Counties. We are a proud member of the Family Resource Center Association. Our family advocates work with families who have children aged birth to five to help them become more self-reliant in the areas that affect family stability, including parenting, health, education, counseling and fulfillment of basic needs.

Our mission is to relieve isolation, reduce the stress of parenting, and prevent child abuse and neglect by
providing outreach and a place where families can receive support, education, and develop a sense of community. Since 1984, Parenting Place has been supporting families with children pre-natal to five years old in Boulder and Broomfield Counties regardless of economic circumstances.
