Call for Artists!

Racine and Vicinity Show:

An All Media Juried Competition

This juried exhibition showcases work from the studios of artists in Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth counties. RAM members also invited to enter work. There is an entry fee of $15 per artist, which is waived for RAM members. Deadline for entry is Saturday, April 16.

 

On Sunday, April 17, Graeme Reid will jury the selection. Reid is Assistant Director at the Museum of Wisconsin Art, having previously worked at the John Michael Kohler Art Center (Sheboygan, WI), the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette (IN) and the Swope Art Museum (Terre Haute, IN). Over the years, Reid has curated over 120 group and solo exhibitions. 

 

Up to three original works may be submitted confined to the following media:

2D:

acrylic, oil and watercolor painting, drawing, assemblage, printmaking, and photography, including black and white prints, color prints, video, film and digitally generated or enhanced prints.

3D:

basketry, book-arts, ceramics, wood, glass, metals, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles.

 

Over $1,000 in prizes will be awarded. The Awards Ceremony and Opening Reception is Saturday, June 4, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at RAM's Wustum Museum, which is located at 2519 Northwestern Avenue, Racine. Awards will be presented at 3:00 pm.

Together, the two campuses of the Racine Art Museum, RAM in downtown Racine at 441 Main Street and the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts at 2519 Northwestern Avenue, seek to elevate the stature of contemporary crafts to that of fine art by exhibiting significant works in craft media with painting, sculpture and photography, while providing outstanding educational art programming.

Docent led contemporary craft and architectural tours of the museums are available. Both campuses of the Racine Art Museum, are open to the public Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, and are closed Mondays, Federal holidays and Easter. RAM is open Sunday Noon - 5:00 pm, while Wustum is closed Sundays. An admission fee of $5 for adults, with reduced fees for students and seniors, applies at RAM. Admission to Wustum is free. Members are always admitted without charge to either campus.
