Everyday Spirituality E-Newsletter
Celebrate the Spiritual in You!

Summer 2007, Volume 2, Issue 6-7-8
|
|
|
|
|
Greetings!
Hello and happy summer! This is a combined
summer e-newsletter. Very busy with the upcoming
launches of two exciting initiatives. Read more below.
The montly e-newsletter will resume in September.
Take
some time out of your schedule to really connect with
the three most important relationships you have in
life:
with yourself, with your loved ones and with your
Creator, in whatever form you call Him/Her.
Try an experiment to be "really present" in your
conversations with each of these three, and actively
listen before you speak. Implement The Spiritual
Nod from this month's 5 Minute Meditation
and see what happens!
Make time to
meditate in
order to connect with yourself and listen to what your
inner guidance wants to say.
Make time
for
family and friends to actively listen to them without
distraction - stop what you are doing, make eye
contact and truly listen and see what a difference that
will make!
Make
time to pray or reflect on your faith and your
connection
to something bigger than yourself. Consider what you
can do to make the world a better place in your small
corner of it.
This month's main article is "a keeper" submitted by
Carol Wooley. Enjoy!

Warm regards from my meditation room,
Barbara

Feature Article: 10 Guidelines from God

Shared by Carol Wooley
Ten Guidelines From God
Effective Immediately : please be
aware that there are changes YOU need to make in
YOUR life. These changes need to be completed in
order that I may fulfill My promises to you to grant you
peace, joy and happiness in this life. I apologize for
any inconvenience, but after all that I am doing, this
seems very little to ask of you.
Please, follow these 10 guidelines :
1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit and
worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all your
burdens and carry them for you?
Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little thing that
comes your way?
2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it on the
list. No, not YOUR list. Put it on MY to-do-list. Let ME
be the one to take care of the
problem. I can't help you until you turn it over to Me.
And although My
to-do-list is long, I am after all... God. I can take care
of anything you
put into My hands. In fact, if the truth were ever really
known, I take care
of a lot of things for you that you never even realize.
3. TRUST ME:
Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to
take them back. Trust
in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your
needs, your problems
and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on
My list. Problem with
finances? Put it on My list. Problems with your
emotional roller coaster?
For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help you. All you
have to do is ask.
4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don't wake up one morning and say, "Well, I'm feeling
much stronger now, I
think I can handle it from here." Why do you think you
are feeling stronger
now? It's simple. You gave Me your burdens and I'm
taking care of them. I
also renew your strength and cover you in my peace.
Don't you know that if I
give you these problems back, you will be right back
where you started?
Leave them with Me and forget about them. Just let Me
do my job.
5. TALK TO ME: I want you to forget a lot of
things. Forget what was making you crazy.
Forget the worry and the fretting because you know I'm
in control. But
there's one thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't
forget to talk to
Me - OFTEN! I love YOU! I want to hear your voice. I
want you to include Me
in on the things going on in your life. I want to hear
you talk about your
friends and family. Prayer is simply you having a
conversation with Me. I
want to be your dearest friend.
6. HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you can't see
from where you are.
Have faith in Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me;
you wouldn't want the
view from My eyes. I will continue to care for you,
watch over you, and
meet your needs. You only have to trust Me. Although
I have a much bigger
task than you, it seems as if you have so much trouble
just doing your
simple part. How hard can trust be?
7. SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were only two
years old. When did you
forget? That rule still applies. Share with those who
are less fortunate
than you. Share your joy with those who need
encouragement. Share your
laughter with those who haven't heard any in such a
long time. Share your
tears with those who have forgotten how to cry. Share
your faith with those
who have none.
8. BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime you could
have so many diverse
experiences. You grow from a child to an adult, have
children, change jobs
many times, learn many trades, travel to so many
places, meet thousands of
people, and experience so much. How can you be so
impatient then when it
takes Me a little longer than you expect to handle
something on My
to-do-list? Trust in My timing, for My timing is perfect.
Just because I
created the entire universe in only six days, everyone
thinks I should
always rush, rush, rush.
9. BE KIND:
Be kind to others, for I love them just as much as I
love you. They may not
dress like you, or talk like you, or live the same way
you do, but I still
love you all. Please try to get along, for M y sake. I
created each of you
different in some way. It would be too boring if you
were all identical.
Please, know I love each of your differences.
10. LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not love yourself?
You were created by me
for one reason only -- to be loved, and to love in return.
I am a God of
Love. Love Me. Love your neighbors. But also love
yourself. It makes My
heart ache when I see you so angry with yourself
when things go wrong. You
are very precious to me. Don't ever forget that......
If you have any response, I am always listening...
Your Most Loving and Loyal Friend,
God

Five Minute Meditation
The 5 minute meditation for this edition is called
The Spiritual Nod.
When you look at a
person that you like or that you don't, try to recognize
that he or she is on a journey through life just like you.
Remember the well known statement
that
we are not human beings living a spiritual experience,
but are spiritual beings living a human experience.
The Spiritual Nod Meditation invites
you to
consider how you might use this metaphor to connect
to people on a deeper level.

Sit straight in your chair with your feet flat on the floor.
Let your arms rest comfortably on your legs and allow
your body to relax. Close your eyes and become still.
Take a deep breath in, hold for two seconds
and release. Let go of the worries and cares of the day
and concentrate on my voice. Again, breathe in, hold
for two seconds and release. If little nagging
thoughts about things you have to do or worries you
have, start to creep into your mind, gently push them
away and focus on the meditation.
Imagine
yourself standing in a long hallway. It is so long that
you cannot see the end of it. There are many people
walking up and down the hallway, walking alone or in
conversation with another. You notice that as they
pass each other, they make eye contact, smile and
nod slightly to each other in recognition. You are
surprised to see that everyone follows this
practice here. This is called The Spiritual
Nod.
You also notice that everyone is calm, happy
and alert to what is going on around them.
They really take the time to see that the person they
are making momentary contact with, is not just the
person they see on the outside, but is a spiritual
person or a soul that is ever present on the inside.
The
Spiritual Nod is a subtle recognition of that
spiritual
being inside each of us and a sacred moment of
connection.
You start to walk down this long
hallway. As you do, you look at people and really see
them, smile, and nod to them slightly. They
do the same in return.
You walk a bit further. Each time you pass someone,
you follow this
ritual of a momentary connection and a slight nod
between you. You do not do so in
an absent- minded way, but really recognize them for
only a moment or two and walk on.
See
yourself
doing this will all the people you meet in this walk
down the hallway, as they understand what
The Spiritual
Nod is, and do the same. You feel happy and
joyful and connected as you pass by. Feel that now
and experience the connection - if only for a moment
with each passerby. It is not a large gesture but a
small acknowledgement of the other person.
You come to the end of
the hallway and reach a door. You open the door, walk
through it, and it takes you back to a familiar place that
you know, that you go to often in your life. Perhaps to
your local grocery store or busy shopping street or
mall..
Now, in your mind's eye, picture yourself in that
familiar place
where there are alot of people coming and going
around you as you stand there.
You consider the idea of The Spiritual Nod
and if it would work in this busy place. Hmmmmm...
You wonder if these people would understand and
respond to your eye contact and recognition as they
did in the long hallway.
It would look a bit
strange if you go through this crowd of people smiling
and nodding your head at everyone you meet. In this
case, you can start with a little smile to people you
pass, and for a moment, look in their eyes. That
is enough contact and is the beginning of The
Spiritual Nod in real life.
In fact, they do
not need to know about The Spiritual Nod...
only you do. They would only see your friendly smile
and eye contact and not know that you are looking at
them from a more spiritual point of view.
In your mind's eye, you start walking down the street or
the grocery store aisle and smile at people you pass.
Sometimes they smile back and sometimes not.
But if you look in their eyes and smile and they smile
back at the same time, you will notice a momentary
connection. It might not last long and you might have
to be quick to see it at all, but it will happen with some
people to whom you offer The Spiritual Nod.
Try it now as you are walking. You smile at
people, look in their eyes and within your own heart
you give them a Spiritual Nod and recognize
the spiritual person living a human experience.
Visualize that every person you smile at, smiles back
at you with a nod within. How does that feel? Uplifted?
Connected? As part of something bigger?
You can do this type of exercise anytime you want in
your everyday life. No one else needs to know about
it. Think about how you can integrate The Spiritual
Nod into your everyday life in subtle ways. It will
uplift your spirits and you will radiate with a positive
and loving energy.
Come back to the chair
where you are sitting, feeling relaxed yet uplifted and
with a new way to connect to other people. Open your
eyes but remain listenting.
Try this experiment when you are out and about in your
life. You will likely get more positive reactions than you
think and you will make a subtle yet deeper
connection with the people you meet on
this journey. Even if you cross paths for only a second
or two in this ENTIRE life, make a soul connection
through The Spiritual Nod and your life will be
enriched forever.

Closing Thought

God grant me the discipline to surrender the urge to
act from my ego; believing I am separate, believing I
must win, believing I am less than, believing I must
struggle, believing I don't know how.
Show me how to lay down these tools of torture and
attune to You, allowing inspiration to move through
me, sustaining me and all those whom I touch.
I
affirm and know your guidance as I consciously
choose to align with your inspiration.

Look for the next E-newsletter in September!
