PCA Masters
Dear Marvelous Masters and Friends:
Coach Mike here, and in a very short time I will be traveling over to France for a little R&R and then some time spent in support of a Covenant Missions Conference and Retreat held annually of European Covenant Missionaries. I will be away from PCC from October 3 to October 13, and be back to open the club on Friday morning, October 14. Blessings to all in my absence, and thank you to many for this opportunity.
I would like to congratulate many among you that have "challenged" yourselves in numerous ways to date this year.
All the Trans Tahoe swimmers this year that braved the "cold" water of Lake Tahoe, and had a great time doing so. All the Alcatraz Invitational swimmers, especially the first timers, and there were many, who overcame any fears they had, and had a ball swimming in the cold SF Bay waters. Fast times were the rule, all smiling at the finish! All the "Swim Meet" swimmers, and there are a few, who get to the meets, devote much time to their pursuits, and continuously challenge themselves to improve their strokes and improve upon their times to reach goals they have set. For Curt, in particular, who shows up, has a great time, and "scores" his ribbons, and tries new events. He does it for fun and fitness, a lesson we should all keep in mind!!
Others that I am particularly fond to see regularly, and that is all of you to be sure, are Mina, Toni, Clint, Heather, and a number of others that are dedicated to improvement, and work very hard to that end.
The many Triathletes among us that train hard in the pool on a frequent basis, and then cross train on the bike and run. I know there were many that performed quite well in numerous events this year, and my congratulations to them.
One Triathlete of note this year is the amazing and incomparable Harriet Anderson. She is traveling to the Ford Hawaiian Ironman Championships on Monday, Oct 3 and will compete in her 20th Ironman Championships in Kona Hawaii on Saturday, October 8th.
She began here at PCC over 25 years ago doing what many of you have just begun doing in her 50's, and it kind of became something in which she excelled and enjoyed. She has remained quite active, humble, and amazingly injury free for an incredible number of years. Please join me in thinking of Harriet next Saturday as she attempts to become the oldest female finisher again at the Ironman. I have every confidence that she will once again finish "her" goal this year.
What about each of you for the rest of the year? Starting on Oct 3, there is a BCA Challenge tote board for you to monitor your calorie burn. Check it out!!! There is a Championship Swim Meet in a couple of weeks in Walnut Creek. Any interest, anyone? The SF Bay still beacons me, and is on the warmer side, and when I return, more trips are planned. Any takers?
I wish you all the best in the next two weeks, and I will be missing each of you. Be kind to your "on deck" coaching staff while I am away, and I look forward to seeing you on my return. Remember,
Stay Fit! Have Fun! Get Wet!
Coach Mike
