Director's Corner

Hello Center Community,

Yes, we only have 24 shopping days left!

My wife came home the other day and said, "People are already camping outside of Target waiting for the sale!"

Seems like we've become so accustomed to the Christmas frenzy and craziness that we hardly stop to ask, "Why are we willing to go through all the madness to give gifts?"

This year's PCC Christmas theme is "Love Gives." The theme comes from the Bible verse, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son..." Simply put, the first Christmas gift ever given was given out of God's incredible love for us.

This past month proved that the Center Community is one that gives.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $650 for the Street Church Thanksgiving Dinner. Thank you also for the barrels of clothes that you donated for Street Church Thanksgiving Clothes Drive.

This month, we will have more opportunities to give through the Center to those less fortunate than us:

-          KennedyKennedy Christmas Store - Give gift cards for Kennedy Middle School families in need. You can help by donating specific gift cards. Grab a gift tag on the tree in the Center Lobby, purchase the gift card at the designated store, and return the gift card to the Center Front Desk.

-          TimZimTim Zimmerman Concert - Enjoy the sounds of the Christmas season while helping raise money for our local schools. In partnership with Serve the Peninsula, PCC has been able to provide PE Programs to over 1500 students. We'd like to do more. See the Front Desk for concert tickets. link here

-          streetchurchStreet Church Christmas Clothes Drive - Donate clothes, jackets, blankets, sleeping bags, socks, underwear, all terrain shoes, and toiletries to meet the needs for Street Church. link here

However we give as a Community this year, give because "Love Gives."

Merry Christmas and see you at the Center!

Anthony

P.S. If you are looking for a church to attend a Christmas Eve service this year, PCC will celebrate Christmas Eve with services at 5PM, 7PM, and 9PM.

Center Members Feedback

From time to time, we receive feedback from members on what they love about the Center. Here are some examples:

Anthony,

I wanted to show my gratitude to PCC and the staff, especially everyone at the front desk Kayla, Julie, and Denise) and the exercise instructors (Debbie and Jo Ann).  These people are a true blessing and their joy travels farther than they know.

Debbie and Jo Ann have gotten me better shape in just a few months. The last time I was in this good shape was high school. They have encouraged and challenged us in such positive ways, farther than I thought I could go and it is a joy to be instructed by them. I wanted to acknowledge their valuable talents and spirit. We have the best the peninsula has to offer!

    Love in Christ,

Dave, Anthony,

Our 8 yr boys have been swimming in the Ruby group with Kelli Crowley this Fall and have really done well. The workouts are well structured and well rounded with a balance of stroke work and basic fitness training.

I like how Rachael and Kelli start the workout with a brief team meeting to review the training session and have personal contact with each child, answer questions and generally assess the level of motivation and energy.  I like how they ask each child to complete the warm up in a consistent way and I appreciate that they adjust the drills and workout to balance the needs of the group and the individual kids.  Kelli is really patient, very positive and shows the swimmers that she is observing them, cares about them and wants them to improve every single workout.

Rachael has done a great job trying to get kids of similar skill levels into the same levels so that they can best challenge each other and the coaches can apply the level of instruction that best meets the kids athletic and developmental abilities.  We've gotten a lot out of the PCA Swim program and feel that is because of the strong coaching that your program offers.

Thank you for offering these good programs to the children in our community.

Best Regards

Kim Freitas

MastersPCA   Masters Making Waves

On Thanksgiving Day, over 110 swimmers splashed and stroked their way during the First Leg of the holiday Triple Crown Swim event held annually here at PCC.  We started at 6am and 8am with the pool at near record population, and all succeeded in their goals they set for themselves this year.

A nice little feast was enjoyed in the lobby, and without exception, all the swimmers were able to eat their way through as much turkey and dressing and desserts knowing full well they started the day with good preparation!!!

As football and conversation and family gatherings dominated the day, a few of the swimmers were seen dozing off a bit as the morning activity took a bit of a toll!!!

The Second Leg of Triple Crown this year occurs on Saturday, Dec 11, with 6am and 9am starts.  The pool will be very busy on this day as well, and many of the same folks will be in attendance.

Besides the Triple Crown to focus our energy upon during the month of December, I challenged all the masters swimmers to look to next year and make goals and plans on what events they wanted to participate in and goals they would like to meet.  Please give that some thought, and advise me on how you desire to proceed to make that a reality.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and may all your wishes come true this season.

Blessings to all,

Coach Mike
