Bauer finals at Far Western Age-Group Long Course Championships

PCA's Lukas Bauer (10) competed at the Pacific Swimming Far Western Age-Group Long Course Championships in early August. Lukas spent three days at the five day meet - competing in seven events: 50 Free, 100 Free, 50 Back, 100 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 Fly and 200 IM. Lukas just missed finals on Friday in 50 Free, placing 10th overall with a 32.59, but snagged a spot in Sunday's 100 Breaststroke final with a time of 1:35.54. Lukas finished 9th overall in finals with a 1:37.24. Tired but happy with his swims, Lukas left Concord on Sunday evening with a smile on his face. Great job Lukas!

PCA Dolphins return to the pool...

Is your child interested in being a part of the PCA Dolphins swim team? PCA's Fall swim session is almost underway. New swimmers are invited to join us for an evaluation day on Friday September 5th at 5pm at PCC. Come and meet some of the PCA coaches and tryout to be a part of our team. Bring your suit, goggles and a smile! Sign-ups are currently being accepted for returning PCA swimmers. Applications and informational flyers can be picked up at the PCC front desk.

US Masters

Marvelous Masters:

This Sunday, and for the next five Sundays following, PCA Masters will be going to Aquatic Park in San Francisco and swimming in the beautiful bay waters of Aquatic Park, just north of Fisherman's Wharf.

We meet at PCC at 7am Sunday morning, depart NLT 7:15 and arrive in SF around 8am.  We are usually in the water about 8:15 or thereabouts, swim for about an hour maximum or as long as you wish and your body allows, and then shower, sauna, Starbucks, and arrive back at PCC NLT 10:30.

This activity is in preparation for the South End Rowing Club Alcatraz Invitational on September 18th this year.  Over 40 swimmers have signed up so far, and it is usually a fantastic event in which to participate.

I have arranged the use of the South End Rowing Club for our Sunday swims.
There is a drop in fee of $6.50 per day use, and I also arrange vans to transport swimmers to SF each Sunday morning.  Figure on $10 per Sunday swim for transportation and SERC fees to cover your Sunday swim activity.

Please let me know in advance of your desire to join us, and I will reserve a spot for you on the van.  Each van holds 10 swimmers, and we can use two vans for these trips.

Each Sunday swim is a great way to enjoy the beautiful bay waters, and you will enjoy the experience immensely.

PCA Masters is a thriving community of fantastic folks, and I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Coach Mike

Super September Spin Month

Put on your spinning shoes for the month of September!  For those of you who want a little more challenge in your spin class, we're going to have a friendly competition measuring how many spin classes you attend this month.

Two options for you:

Go it alone: Take on other mavericks as you track your attendance individually.

Team Up: Prefer someone to have your back? Grab a partner and track your progress as a pair (teams of only 2). Fun team name required!

Note: you can only pick one category (individual or team of 2). No doubling up, please.

Prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 of each category at the end of the month.

Never Tried Spin? Want To?

Does the loud music and loud (though friendly!) instructor give you pause? Fear not!  Check out one of our beginning Spin classes this month to learn the very basics of spin, from getting on the bike, to pedaling, to different phrases and jargon.

Schedule of beginning classes will be available first week of September.
