BBVA COMPASS PERFORMANCE CUP REGATTA 2010 IS OUR 26TH YEAR OF THE BANK REGATTA
On the weekend of Saturday, October 9th, 2009 the Galveston Bay Cruising Association will hold the 26th annual BBVA Compass Performance Cup Regatta on Galveston Bay. Yachts in several different classes and three separate fleets will converge on the waters off Seabrook and Kemah for the biggest race of the fall racing season. The overall winners in the One-Design, PHRF Spinnaker and PHRF Non-Spinnaker fleets will see their names join those of past winners on the crystal BBVA Compass Trophy.
As always, a full complement of shore side events will await racing crews along the Clear Creek Channel connecting Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, including parties Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Saturday evening's social event will be on Jennings Island at the former Sunset Grille location. The party will include live music by Galveston band "THE LINE UP", food from Catfish on Wheels, a rum bar and drinks from Treaty Oak Rum and Graham's Texas Tea, both local Texas distilleries.
Participating boats will range in size from 22 feet to over 40 feet and will include several One-Design classes such as J 22's and J 105s, in addition to the highly competitive handicap racing fleets. Sign up today and join us the weekend of October 9 and 10 for great racing in Texas! |

With a song list that can go from ZZ Top to Lenny Kravitz to Neil Diamond to Maroon 5 to Frank Sinatra to Sublime, The Lineup is all about having fun and keeping the audience guessing.

GBCA TERVIS TUMBLERS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE! BUY YOURS AT THE BBVA COMPASS PERFORMANCE CUP REGATTA
by Kevin Box
The ubiquitous 16oz red Solo cup has become the mascot of the GBCA after-party. So much so, that I've often thought a cold beverage-laden red cup, glistening with condensation against a Galveston Bay sunset would make an appropriate club burgee, if we didn't already have one. Though the sweaty red cup will always be with us, there is now an alternative thanks to the work of Board member Beverly Caldwell. Custom insulated Tervis Tumblers complete with a sewn GBCA burgee inside will be available for purchase during the BBVA Compass Regatta October 9th and 10th.
