April 2007 is here and Texas Race Week is just a couple of weeks away!  We've got great races and some great parties planned down on Galveston Island for April 26^th, 27^th and 28^th, so if you have not signed up go to www.gbca.org and register. 

 

Once again, Galveston Yacht Club will be the Post-Race Happy Hour place to be on Thursday and Friday from 5:00 p.m.  - 8:00 p.m.  The GYC staff will be grilling burgers and hotdogs on Thursday with a Crawfish Boil scheduled for Friday.  Luc Descours and his GYC staff will once again offer Mt. Gay rum specials along with special bar prices for the group. 

 

Chico's Paradise Rooftop Bar & Grill located at 500 Seawall Blvd across from Stewart Beach is our headquarters for the Saturday evening Awards Party starting at 7:00 p.m..  Come on upstairs to the bar and deck area to enjoy the party spot for Texas Race Week participants and guests.  Julio Garcia, Chico's Manager, will have their delicious House Margarita's at happy hour price all night long as well as Mt. Gay rum specials for our participants.  Julio has donated one of the kegs for the night as well.  Live music, which is sponsored by Hayes Rigging, will be provided by the Galveston based band 98 in the Shade.  When the band stops, the party continues with Chico's DJ spinning until 2 AM.

BUT, to enjoy this free food and beer each evening everyone must display a WRISTBAND on their wrist (not in pockets please).   Each Skipper will receive 2 wristbands in their packets, but all other participants and guests must purchase a wristband at $25.00/person.  This is $25.00 for ALL 3 DAYS!  One purchased wristband will get you burgers/dog/fries and free beer on Thursday, Crawfish Boil and free beer on Friday, and a Fajita/Enchilada dinner with free beer on Saturday.  You can't beat those prices anywhere!  Wristbands will be available for purchase at the Skipper's meeting on April 20^th, so come on by and pick yours up before the party starts!

The Comfort Inn & Suites on the Beach located at 102 E. Seawall Blvd (off 4^th street at Stewart Beach) is holding group rate rooms for Texas Race Week participants and guests.

-         Individuals will make their reservations by cut off date of April 9, 2007

-         Individuals will guarantee payment for their rooms by credit card or by advance payment

-         For individuals, room reservations canceled after 72 hours prior to arrival will be assessed one night's room rental

-         COMPLIMENTARY Continental Breakfast is provided in the main lobby each morning. (You can make a Texas Shaped Waffle to start your Texas Race Day!)

 

This is the Race Committee Headquarters.  The RC stayed at this location last year and found the staff very accommodating and friendly.  You are in close proximity of GYC, Flagship Pier and Marker 11 for folks driving about Galveston watching the races from the shoreline.
