Here's a killer trivia question this month, and it's really quite simple:  Why is Longmont Colorado the birthplace of modern American retailing?

Three hints to help you answer this: First, the question has nothing to do with me. The question has something to do with Sam Walton.  And finally, it has everything to do with a meat market.

If you win, you will receive the limited-edition book "Think Big", a fantastic addition to any entrepreneur's library.

Our Last 2010 Destination BootCamp is September 21-23
Our final 2010 Destination BootCamp of the year is coming up in September.  This is typically the BootCamp where owners panic and realize that they really do have to improve their business before the 4th quarter of the year, and then, they sign up in droves for this class.

This e-newsletter reaches tens of thousands of readers around North America.  We can take a maximum of forty eight (48) people in our September BootCamp (we already have registrations in, so our available spaces are now in the 30's).  You don't need to be a math major to realize that very few of you reading this will get to attend, unless you react quickly by registering now.

Go here to read what actual attendees are saying about their BootCamp experience.

If you're ready to sign up, click here to complete your application.

Do nothing and continue reading this e-newsletter each month if you'd like to wait another 9 months to reinvent your business (as you wait for our Spring 2011 BootCamp).

"In order to change, we must be sick and tired of being sick and tired."

JonThis is your June Reinvent Your Business e-Newsletter, sent only to subscribers who want to turn their businesses and communities into Consumer Destinations.

Let's start with my Tip of the Month, and then go directly to some very exciting news.

TIP OF THE MONTH:  Is Your Community Waiting?

When I speak to business owners, I always emphasize to them that they cannot wait for "Big Brother" to save them in this recovering economy.  I tell them that they cannot wait for some miraculous change to invigorate their businesses.  I tell them that they cannot wait for their communities to make the changes that will cause their businesses to grow again.  And most owners understand this, and the most aggressive of them are doing miraculous reinventions of their businesses which are causing sales and customer traffic to increase.

But I find it disturbing that so many cities and towns around the country (including my city of Longmont, Colorado) ARE waiting for the Big Fix, and in the meantime, are essentially doing nothing.

Destination University Student Center
Open for Registration
Little GirlHelp for your business is finally here, and it's only $29.95 a month!

If you are a business owner, a chamber director, a downtown organization, a Main Street program, or another community group supporting businesses in your area, our new online training / social networking area, the Destination University Student Center, is now open for enrollment.

For $29.95 per month, an owner or a group can now belong to this learning library, where you can view a monthly "Live" webinar, and view archived webinars.  You'll also be able to ask questions and interact with progressive business owners, but also fifteen world-class authors, speakers, and business experts (I'm just one of the 15).

If you are an owner, you can also add your employees and managers as Members of the DU Student Center.

If you are an organization, you can add Board Members and other leaders of your group.

Best of all, you can network with this group from your computer or your smart phone (I frequently ask questions and contribute ideas with my IPhone while traveling).

There is no other independent business network like this, and our competitors hate us because of it.

Learn more by watching our information webinar (it's only 8 minutes).  Or go to www.DestinationUniversity.com to find out all the membership details, learn about our Experts, see a list of current and upcoming webinars, and watch previews of our trainings.
Congrats!
Congratulations to our recent graduates of our Destination BootCamp, held last week here in Colorado.  24 people attended, with the farthest coming from Newfoundland, Canada.  Two large groups of owners came from the cities of Phillipsburg and Chanute, Kansas as part of our Community Reinvention Program(Learn about this Program).  Here's a picture of our good-looking class.

June 2010

I always ask owners this question before they leave our BootCamp:  "What would you tell others who are thinking about attending this workshop?" Here are just a few of their answers:

"I would tell anyone, except my direct competition, to attend the BootCamp.  You immediately see where your weak points are in running your business and you are provided a foundation to shore them up."
Brad Hamlett, Bradley's, Knoxville, Tennessee

"I've been to many workshops, schools, and seminars aimed at improving my business over the years.  Never have I experienced such a comprehensive, well-organized, and yet, entertaining presentation."
Gary Fail, Total Image Photography, Chanute, Kansas

"The BootCamp helps you stand back both physically and emotionally from your business and take a fresh look at it - helps you look at your business with fresh eyes and a new perspective."
Kimberly Shoemaker, Old Magnolia Trading Company, Wake Forest, North Carolina

"Jon reinforces where my business is weak and then gently steps on my toes to make me change.  My mind is whirling.  You won't regret attending."
Sally Brandon, The Shepherd's Mill, Phillipsburg, Kansas
The challenges in this economy are not over yet, and if you are still wondering when it's going to turn around, quit waiting, and start making changes to your business that can help, right now!  Hope to see you in Colorado in September!
