Here is this month's trivia question: Almost 235 years ago today, on April 19, 1775, where did the very first battle happen between the British government soldiers and the British colonial rebels who later became independent Americans?

Upcoming Workshops, Open to the Public | I'll be speaking in the following two cities in May and June, and best of all for you, these are open to the public and anyone can attend. That's not always the case with many of my workshops, as groups often allow access just to their members. Be sure to put these public workshops on your calendar.
Thursday, May 6, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania: I'll be speaking on Increasing Sales & Profits as a Destination Business from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This will be the first time in 14 years that I have spoken in Pennsylvania where the workshop will be open to the public! If you haven't ever been to Gettysburg, when you check your map you'll find that it is a short drive from parts of Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Washington D.C., and all parts of Pennsylvania.
Please don't call our office to ask when the next time I'll be in Pennsylvania, if you have a conflict on this day. Based on past experiences, that next time will be the year 2024, and I won't be speaking on the same topic! Find time to clear your schedule and come to Gettysburg.
Where: Gettysburg Hotel, One Lincoln Square, Gettysburg, Pennnsylvania
Price: $45 per person for Gettysburg sponsoring organization members; $75 per person for all others. Contact: Jennifer McCleaf at 717-334-8151 or jenniferm@gettysburg-chamber.org Tuesday, June 9 in Port Angeles, Washington: I'll be presenting an all-day workshop on making your business a Destination, customized for Washington businesses. Though it's still a ways off, put it on your calendar now. The workshop will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue into the afternoon. It will be held at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 North Lincoln. Sponsored by the Port Angeles Downtown Assn and the City of Port Angeles, owners who have a Port Angeles zip code can attend for $75, and all owners outside the zip code can attend for $100. The last time I spoke in Port Angeles ten years ago, email marketing was in its infancy, there was no Facebook, Twitter, or Google, and I was teaching about 20% of what I know now. |

| This is your April Reinvent Your Business e-Newsletter, sent only to subscribers who want to turn their businesses and communities into Consumer Destinations. Let's start with my Tip of the Month.
|
|
Tip of the Month | Here's a situation that happens to business owners everyday: You are in your business and you have a new idea to bring more customers in your doors. You feel reasonably certain that your idea would work, but you would like to bounce the idea off someone else, to get their perspective before you proceed. Here are the four (4) people you probably will ask for advice and the reasons that those people are probably the worst people to ask. Click here to read who you should be asking. |

A New Way to Grow Your Business | |
Please read this next section of the newsletter carefully:
Next month, I will be announcing an entirely new way for you, as an owner, to grow your business. This new business networking resource will help you drive more revenue to your business, help you train your staff to become top employees, and change the way you learn the newest techniques of small business success. We will be offering this to readers of our e-newsletter first before anyone else. In your overall business operations, we think having access to this resource will be one of the most beneficial tools you've ever had, and it will be so affordable that every small business, regardless of its size or sales volume, will have access to it. Best of all, this new tool will give your business an advantage over every larger competitor, and will NOT be available to those larger competitors because I personally will not allow them to have it.
If you would like to be the first to learn about this new business networking resource, and you'd like to receive the lowest possible price to be part of it, be sure to click here and sign up on our Destination University website. Please understand that you aren't buying or joining anything now. You are just reserving your spot in line to receive the information first!
PS: This new offering from our company will not be available to everyone. We created this to help small business owners, not large companies that compete against them. Additionally, we reserve the right to not offer this tool to anyone of our choosing, which will include other consultants, trainers, employees of chain-run businesses, and especially, any of our competitors. |
Reinvent Your Business:
June 15-18 | |
We just finished our March Destination BootCamp, and the smiling faces you see here are our last attendees. Before you jump over this section of the newsletter because you don't like hearing about what others are doing with their businesses, here are three quotes from owners who took our 2˝ day workshop.

"Jon's BootCamp is so packed with useful and specific information, it would be a bargain at twice the price!"
Bill Oliver, Owner, Sei Mee Tea, Enterprise, OR
"Taking the time to focus totally on your business for 2 1/2 days (away from distraction) is invaluable! The BootCamp is time and money that you cannot afford NOT to spend!" Carol Dodson, Owner, Tis The Season, West Jefferson, NC
"Attend the BootCamp if you want 21st Century business success! The BootCamp reduced the 'scatter brain' feeling and helped me zone in on what steps to take to grow my business and move it in a specific direction!" Julie Smothers, V.P., Ralph's Joy of Living, Fremont, OH
Our 2nd Destination BootCamp of 2010 will be held on June 15-17 here in Longmont, Colorado. Remember, we only do three (3) BootCamps each year, and one's already completed. Our Destination BootCamp is the only time I take owners through my entire 14-step strategy to turn their businesses into Consumer Destinations, plus work one-on-one with attendees late into the evening of all three nights of the BootCamp. If you are planning to send a group of business owners from your community to participate in our Community Reinvention Program, you should know that we only have room for one (1) more group in June's BootCamp, and room for two (2) more groups for our September BootCamp. If you are unfamiliar with our Community Reinvention Program, click here to learn how cities around the country are getting over $16,000 of free services (and a free workshop in their city) from us, just for sponsoring a group of business owners to attend our BootCamp. What a great deal, and what a great way to infuse some positive action into any marketplace. Click here to read more about what past attendees have said about our Destination BootCamp. |
