Hello and thank you for receiving our e-news updates. We appreciate your willingness to be on our list and we'll be sending out special discount coupon codes to you this coming fall and winter so please stay tuned!
I was up in Minnesota for a few days this past week on a business trip and I was reminded of what it's like to live in a colder region of the country. I remember back in the late 1980's when I started riding a road bike in Maryland, riding in sub-20 deg. temperatures wearing plastic bags over my socks, a winter jacket and sweatpants. Fortunately, hi-tech clothing has come a long way since way back in the stone ages. In any case, much of the bike training many of you will do this winter will be indoors - on the trainer and out of the elements. And even though indoor training can be compared to watching paint dry - you've gotta do it in order to maintain fitness and work on getting stronger for the next season!
Anyway, stay warm and stay focused on getting stronger this winter. Below is a short video clip on the subject of bike hill climbing technique for your training education. And don't forget our newest training videos - especially our new functional threshold test found in 27.0 - Threshold Test and SufferFest.

VIDEO - Climb Hills Faster by Improving Technique by Coach Troy
|
|
Climbing hills faster requires a few things to happen. First of all and most important - is to improve your power to weight ratio. In other words, the more power you can produce relative to your weight over extended periods of time, the faster you'll go uphill. The other area to focus on is your hill climbing technique - including everything from gear selection to know when to sit and when to stand. Watch this short video clip by clicking HERE from Coach Troy on proper hill climbing technique and climb faster!

DISCOVER YOUR CURRENT FITNESS LEVEL! SPINERVALS 27.0 - THRESHOLD TEST & SUFFER FEST

Discover your HEART RATE and POWER TRAINING ZONES while boosting your threshold with this Amazing Workout!
Spinervals 27.0 - Threshold Test & Suffer Fest,
serves dual purposes. A great threshold building workout designed to
boost your anaerobic threshold and sustainable power output for time
trialing events including triathlons, this workout also functions as a
repeatable 'field test' used by many prominent coaches and
exercise physiologists to determine an athletes 'Functional Threshold',
or that output of work (power) one can sustain on average over a 20
minute period.
By learning one's functional threshold and
retesting it every 6-8 weeks, an athlete can accurately determine the
proper training zones as well as assess their training progress over
time. This form of performance testing is critical for anyone
interested in getting faster on the bike and achieving optimal results
through a structured training program.
