05campHello everyone and thank you for receiving our e-news updates! I hope you are staying cool during this period of high temperatures throughout the country. Remember to hydrate well, even when not training!

If you ordered the new Lake Placid Training Ride DVD last week, I hope that you received it and have enjoyed your 'virtual' training experience (see www.spinervals.com for a preview clip). Look for the new Tucson Training Ride DVD to be made available sometime later this summer.

This coming weekend, I'll be traveling to Louisville KY for our first ever Louisville Training Camp. We'll be previewing the new Iron distance race course with over 30 other athletes from around the country. We'll be sure to get some great photos for everyone to see and I'll send you my review of the course in a future email update.

The following week, I'll be headed up to Lake Placid to watch the race and cheer for everyone. On Saturday, I'll host a one-hour 'race preparation' talk for my athletes and others who wish to attend and will let you know the time and place for that soon. If you are doing IMLP, enjoy your final weeks of tapering and get ready!

A couple weeks ago, we produced three new exercise DVDs in collaboration with Iron Girl (www.irongirl.com), a leader in the promotion of fitness and race participation for women (see the press release below).  This is my third year working closely with Iron Girl in developing training programs, exercise DVDs and consulting and I'm really excited about being named the Official Coach of Iron Girl on a National level.  My 3.5 yr old daughter, Hope, is really proud of her daddy for helping girls and ladies exercise smarter and enjoy the fitness lifestyle. It's great to see her 'work out' like her parents!  It's so important that we set a good example for our kids in everything, including issues related to health and nutrition.

If you're attending the Louisville Camp or IMLP, I look forward to seeing you there! Otherwise, stay hydrated, train smart and enjoy the process.

Be Strong and Focused,
Coach Troy

p.s.  As we move towards the end of the season, many of you are starting to look forward to having your best season ever in 2008. Check out www.coachtroy.com for my coaching packages and to reserve your spot on my roster of athletes.

Troy Jacobson Named Official Coach of Iron Girl

July 6, 2007 (Tarpon Springs, FL) - Troy Jacobson, a former professional triathlete and multisport coach since 1992, has been named the official training coach of Iron Girl.  Recognized as a leader in the field of coaching beginner to elite athletes at all distances, Jacobson will provide registered participants with complimentary duathlon and running programs for the following 2007 RYKA Iron Girl events:

  • RYKA Iron Girl Boston 10K/5K on September 3
  • RYKA Iron Girl Seattle 10K/5K on September 9
  • RYKA Iron Girl Bloomington Duathlon on September 23
  • RYKA Iron Girl Tempe 10-Mile/5K on December 2

Jacobson also provided his coaching expertise to participants at the inaugural RYKA Iron Girl Atlanta Triathlon that took place at Lake Lanier Islands Resort in Atlanta, GA, on June 17 and the RYKA Iron Girl Denver 5-Mile/5K that took place on July 1.

Jacobson continues to grow his relationship with Iron Girl.  In 2005, he worked with Iron Girl to create the UltraConditioning 3.0 - Ultra Full Body with Iron Girl DVD that features an all-female cast of cyclists and multisport athletes and combines a cycling focus with strength training exercises.  The 65-minute video workout is designed to strengthen each muscle in the body, while enhancing aerobic energy systems and burning maximum calories.  Jacobson is currently in production for a follow-up to the popular UltraConditioning 3.0 - Ultra Full Body with Iron Girl DVD.  The three-part series of cycling, running and strengthening videos will be available for purchase starting in Fall 2007.

Launched in 2004 with just two events, the Iron Girl brand has grown to now include ten events nationwide, varying in distance from 5K to duathlon and triathlon.  To date, more than 13,000 women have crossed an Iron Girl finish line.  The Iron Girl experience provides women with a competitive platform and added amenities such as: performance shirts sized just-for-women, ChampionChip timing, personalized race bibs, custom finisher medals, a post-race catered Breakfast Café, post-race giveaways and much more.  The mission of Iron Girl is to empower women toward a healthy lifestyle.

The Iron Girl brand is supported by an interactive Web site filled with training tips, guest columnists and nutrition information.  Iron Girl has also enhanced its offerings with the addition of the IronGirlShop.com with new items such as hydration and nutrition products, jewelry and sports bags.  Additionally, Iron Girl will be launching a new technical apparel line in 2008.
