Coach Troy's Update
05camp
Thursday May 17, 2007 -

I can't believe that June is almost here and that the year of 2007 is halfway through already.  Time just seems to fly by so quickly these days!

A couple weeks ago, I was in Tucson Arizona, the training venue for our Winter Training Camp, to shoot a new video for our virtual reality "On The Road with Coach Troy" series. This new DVD to be entitled, "Volume 3 - Tucson Training Rides" will be a great winter workout for anyone who likes riding in desert surroundings and will include two 'famous' Tucson area rides. Look for this title in the fall just in time for the indoor training season.

And speaking of indoor training and the "On the Road" series, I have good news for everyone who has waited so patiently for "Volume 2 - Lake Placid Training Ride".  It's almost ready! If all goes well, we'll be shipping this awesome workout (and Iron Distance Lake Placid course preview) over the next 4-6 weeks. I know it might be late for those of you doing the race this year and for that, I apologize. We've had so many technical glitches with this project, including a catastrophic hard drive crash; it's been a nightmare!  Fortunately, the 'light is at the end of the tunnel' and we feel confident it's almost ready. Thanks for all of your patience.

May and June are busy months here at Lifesports, Inc. as we have several projects and events on our schedule. This coming weekend we'll be at the Columbia Triathlon in Maryland as a sponsor, giving away free DVDs to the first 250 athletes to register on Saturday at the expo.  At the Blackwater Eagleman 70.3 Series in June, we'll be doing the same thing and I'll be hosting the 5th Annual 'Pro Forum' again on June 9th at the Expo location. This is free to everyone and a great chance to learn training and racing secrets from the world's top pros! And Karen Dubs, creator of the Flexible Warrior Yoga Series, will be giving a demonstration class at the expo at both the Columbia Tri and Eagleman Tri so don't miss it!

From June 14-17th, we'll be in Lake Placid hosting our annual Lake Placid Training camp. This awesome camp is almost full with only a few more slots open so if you're interested in attending this great camp experience, please register at www.spinervals.com asap.

Then, in late June, we go to the studio to shoot several new exciting workout DVDs for Fall 2007 release including two new volumes in the Flexible Warrior Yoga Series and three new workouts (cycling, running and conditioning) featuring a team of superstars from Iron Girl. I'll be sure to give you more information about all of these new projects as they develop but right now all of the specifics must be kept TOP SECRET!

Well, that's my update for now.  I hope your training is strong and you are doing well. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Be Strong and Focused,

Coach Troy

Training Tip - Bike Seat Woes

Lots of people complain about being uncomfortable when sitting on a bike seat. There are a hundred different saddles on the market to help alleviate the discomfort but we also recommend that you also consider the following tricks:

1. Try tilting the nose of your saddle down, up or even side to side.
2. Wear high quality cycling shorts. Our favorite shorts are the 'bibs'.
3. Use cycling lubricants to help reduce chafing.
4. Go to a bike fit expert to make sure your position is good.
5. Shift around on your saddle frequently while riding to avoid getting any 'hot spots'.
6. Stand up often when riding.
7. Ride more! The more you ride, the more you get used to the inherent discomforts of riding.

Good luck!
