Because our primary goal is to increase the quality of care and make the healthcare industry better one healthcare worker at a time via our partnership with you and other allied health schools, we are continuously working on improving our processes and policies.
Please note several updates and reminders in this month's NHA News. And, as always, feel free to call your Client Account Manager with any questions you may have. We also encourage you to forward NHA News to your colleagues so they are up-to-date on the latest news from NHA.

Only your students will test at your school
Effective immediately, we no longer will send outside students to your school to take certification exams. Only students who have completed a program at your school will test at your school.
NHA exams will be available to outside students at over 600 PSI Testing Centers throughout the United States. You can direct any outside students who inquire to visit www.nhanow.com to register for an exam. After they have registered with NHA, they will receive instructions on how to schedule an exam with PSI.

New aggregate report available
Because we know that aggregate reporting on your students' performance on the national certification exam would be valuable to you, NHA has developed a report that summarizes the passing rate of your students and compares that to the state and national average pass rates. You will begin receiving these reports in September.

Certification validation: now fast and easy Employers and students now have the ability to validate certification quickly and easily from the "VERIFY A CERTIFICATION" link accessible from the NHA home page. To validate certification, the user will need to have the certification number, certification expiration date and individual's last name - all information that is included on the certification card.

Out with the old (materials), in with the new
It is vital for test security and efficient scoring of exams that we receive up-to-date answer sheets and test booklets. We've received a few outdated landscape-oriented answer sheets and even some old test forms recently.
Effective Oct. 1, we no longer will accept or score outdated materials. If you have questions or if you're in doubt if you have old materials, please call your Client Account Manager and we can make sure to get you what you need. |
Head's up: Certification Board adds new policies
The Certification Board, which governs policy for the certification exams, recently approved two new policies that align with our goal to improve patient care and will also help us gain accreditation for additional exams:
- Change in the handling of confidential student exam data
The new policy states that confidential information will not be disclosed without the candidate's permission and that score results will be sent directly to the candidates. Information that is not considered confidential (and may be shared with schools or employers) includes certification status, certification number and the current status of a credential. Based on this new policy, effective Oct. 1, NHA will not disclose confidential information directly to schools. Confidential information includes test scores, pass/fail results and percentage correct scores.
- New exam retake policy
Effective immediately, candidates must wait 30 days to re-test after each exam failure. After three failed attempts, a candidate must wait 12 months after the last attempt.

Proctor reminder
Proctors, please ensure that all candidates are verifying their identity and confirming their address on the roster at the time of their exam. Proctors are responsible for confirming that the candidate's ID matches the name on the roster. Students can verify their identity with a government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport, for example). |

One click pre-registration
Please remind students to go to www.nhanow.com and click on the "PRE-REGISTER FOR EXAM" button at the top-left of the page to pre-register and create an NHA account. When they return to the site, they can simply click on the "RETURNING STUDENTS' LOG IN" button.
Pre-registration is good for your school and good for your students. Pre-registration results in faster turnaround times and ensures that all your testers are verified and that their information is 100 percent accurate. It also means more accurate rosters for the proctors.
Thanks to the easier process and access for students, beginning Oct. 1 paper registration forms will no longer be accepted, only online registration will be accepted. Paper/pencil exam booklets will be sent based on the number of online registrations.
