The Largest Collection of Motorcycles in America

Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum; Birmingham, Alabama
After paying the $10 admission my friend Doug
and I walked through the entrance into the
expansive museum. I could not help but say
"wow" when I saw the huge open area and a
wide spiral walkway circling in the middle of
the museum. The wide concrete walkway winds
up 5 floors of the most impressive display of
motorcycles I have ever seen. It is easy to
see how they get all the motorcycles to the
top, they simply drive up this expansive walkway.
In the center are steel structures with
rectangular areas where motorcycles are
displayed. This reminded me of entering a toy
store as a kid and viewing the many matchbox
cars on the shelf. But these are real
motorcycles stacked from the floor to the
ceiling of this 5 story structure.

Maine
Rolling hills blanketed by lush green trees
surround the town of Bangor, Maine creating a
serene backdrop to this historic and relaxing
city. One of my coworkers from Texas said she
normally thought of the northeast in terms of
thriving cities, crowded streets, and hurried
people. You will find just the opposite in
this quaint New England Town.
Speaking with the locals from Maine, or
Mainers as they liked to be called, I
realized these are a resilient people with an
easy going attitude towards life. The Mainers
attitude describes the city of Bangor;
resilient from a tough history of fire and
freezing, contrasted by the relaxing attitude
from being located on the edge of a beautiful
wilderness.

The best place to experience Civil War and Confederate history
One of the best places to explore the history
of the Civil War and the Confederacy is
Richmond, Virginia. Today I am visiting two
sites, The American Civil War Center and The
Museum Of The Confederacy.
The American Civil War Center is an
outstanding place to experience Civil War
history through the many time lines and
multimedia displays in the museum. You will
learn why the war began and the impact on the
Union, the Confederates, and African
Americans. A short walk from the DoubleTree
downtown, the museum sits along the
picturesque James river. This is a great spot
to recline and enjoy the tranquil views.
