Welcome to Mowbray by Design's November
Newsletter.
This
last month seems to have been rather busy for
all of us as
we quick march toward the end of the year. Here
at
Mowbray by Design, we have been working with
a number of
companies to improve their Image Culture.
Organisations
spend a great deal of time and money ensuring
that their
corporate branding, image and reputation is
developed and
protected. However, all of this may be
diluted in a moment
by the incongruencies that can occur between
a company's
image, and the 'face' of the organisation:
it's people. Do give
me a call if you would like to discover more...
This month's issue on all things image and
style celebrates
good old fashioned service with Bulgari
literally bringing their
fabulous jewels to your desk, and we delight
in Samsonite's
new 'Black Label'. With one eye on interiors:
we bring you
an exclusive invitation to attend the opening
exhibition of
'Made in China' courtesy of the Opera
Gallery... and with the
other
on exteriors: we explore the latest body
beautiful claims of
LaserLipo. We feature Charles Handy and
invite you to spend
an evening discussing his new
book 'The New Philanthropists' in association
with the
Microloan Foundation. Last but not least, we
have wrapped
up a couple of gift experiences designed to
pamper someone
special.
I do hope that you have a fabulous
November... until next time.

Bulgari brings it to you...
For over a century, Bulgari has drawn it's inspiration from
the timeless beauty of Greek and Roman art. The Greek
founder Sotirio Bulgari embraced Roman culture, setting the
pace for Italian style in jewellery.
Bulgari's first store on Via Condotti was a meeting place for the
aristocracy and the world of culture and cinema... an
intriguing combination of dolce vita and Hollywood.
The essence of pure luxury - daring combinations, precious
materials, purity of design and meticulous attention to
detail...
Bulgari are now offering to bring it all
to you. They will take your brief and with your budget in
mind, select an array of jewels
and bring them to your door (or desk if you prefer) during
and out of office hours. And if
you would like to visit a store, they will arrange for a Private
Shopping appointment at a time that suits you. That's what I
call good old fashioned
service.

Life's a Journey...
When it comes to travel, we are always in search of the
perfect
suitcase. More often than not, we either like the way it
looks,
but it's impractical, or it's perfectly practical, but lacking in
design. And worse still, we find what we want, but it just
doesn't last. Samsonite's new 'Black Label' line thankfully
does it all.
For 95 years Samsonite has built on upon its rich and
illustrious design heritage and has now embarked on a new
era with the launch of worldwide concept stores. The stores
showcase their luxury brand 'Black Label' - a premium line for
the travel connoisseur.
And with the likes of seasoned travellers Isabella Rossillini,
Joaquin Cortes and Marc Newson fronting the Black Label
brand, we know that we
are onto a good thing.

Made in China
We are delighted to extend you an invitation to the opening
reception of The Opera Gallery's upcoming exhibition
?Made in China? on 2 November 2006 in London. The exhibition
is open to all from the 3rd to the 30th November.
Exploring a selection of more than 80 works of art by 30
different artists, this exhibition will give collectors and novices
alike a chance to discover the driving forces of Contemporary
Chinese Art, from Wang Guangyi?s Political Pop Art to Yang
Shaobin?s famous explosions.
No exhibition would be complete without pieces by Zao Wou-Ki
and Chu Teh Chun, both famous masters of abstract art. Born
in the early 1920s, they arrived in France after World War II
and still live there today. Also featured are Wang Dajun,
Kong Weimeng and Yi Deer - members of the elite ?club of
thirty-somethings? on the rise...
The opening reception is on Thursday 2nd November from 6pm
- 9pm at Opera Gallery, 134 New Bond Street, London. For
further information please contact Jean-david Malat or Didier
Viltart on +44 20 7491 2999, or email

SmartLipo
In the quest for body beautiful, you may have noticed that
there are few social gatherings where the subject of cosmetic
surgery isn't explored! The latest on everyone's lips is
SmartLipo. Often referred to as 'lunch-time-lipo' this new laser
technology claims to reduce fat and cellulite without resorting
to the more invasive traditional form of liposuction.
The
SmartLipo is a 1mm fine laser probe similar to a fibre
optic, which is inserted under the skin heating fat cells to 45
degrees centigrade, which causes the membranes to break
down and release the liquid fat. The body then eliminates
the fat through normal processes over a period of 4 to 16
weeks.
Originating in Italy in 2000, SmartLipo has been used in Japan,
Australia, Brazil, Germany and France before reaching the UK
this year. The procedure appears to be gathering support
amongst medical professionals and is waiting for
FDA approval state-side.
And if all of this has roused your curiosity, have a chat with
early
adopter Dr Mike Comins at the Hans Place Practice in
Knightsbridge, London on +44 207 584 1642 or e-mail
mike@hansplace.com and he will be happy to give you his
views.

An evening with Charles Handy
On 9 November 2006, internationally renowned writer and
broadcaster Charles Handy will be talking about 'a different
approach to charity' in a special fundraising evening for the
Microloan Foundation at the Lloyd's Library in London.
Charles Handy is often described as Europe's leading
management guru. He is also the closest thing we have today
to a 'philosopher of management'.
You can book a place at this fascinating event for a donation
of £30, which includes your ticket and a copy of Charles
Handy's latest book The New Philanthropists - inspiring
profiles of twenty-three people who have used not just their
money but also their professional and entrepreneurial skills
to found new charitable projects.
To reserve your place, which at 6pm on 9 November, call Tom
Hall on +44 208 996
1730 or email tom.hall@microloanfoundation.org.uk. I would
encourage you to hurry as places are limited and going fast!

Gift Experience
We have wrapped up a couple of gift experiences in the form
of
a half day or a full day's pampering so that you can treat
someone special to a gift that will surprise and delight. Both
experiences include a private car and driver who will pick up
and drop off anywhere in central London. Once you have
decided on the appropriate experience, you will
need to add a budget for Personal Shopping.
Half Day Gift Experience £950:
When we know that we are looking good, we cannot help
but feel the same way. This experience is designed to give
you the knowledge and confidence to make the right choices
for yourself going forward. Once your driver has collected
you, we start with a
professional Style and Colour Consultation followed
by a Personal Shopping session. We then
complete the new look with a visit to a make-up artist
leaving you looking and feeling ready for any occasion.
Full Day Gift Experience £1,900:
This is the ultimate make-over experience. The day starts
with a professional Style and
Colour Consultation followed by a Personal Shopping session.
Lunch is then served at one of London's premier restaurants.
The
afternoon is dedicated to grooming and we start with a visit
to a hair stylist and a make-up artist - leaving just enough
time for a manicure and pedicure.
For special
occasions, we can arrange flights or hotels, and
even arrange for friends to join for a 'surprise' lunch - or
drinks and canape's at the end of the day.
Contact Louise on +44 776 800 2840 to discuss what you
have in mind. Then sit back, take the credit and leave it all to
us.

Luxury meets The New Philanthropists
As image conscious conspicuous consumers it is interesting
to observe the move towards combining luxury and
philanthropy. Only yesterday we were concerned with eco-
friendly and stamping out child labour. Luxury used to be in
the firm grasp of the elite and was important for status and
attention. Over time the meaning of luxury came to embody
personalised experiences tailored to the individual and
accessible only to the few. General consensus tells us that
the new definition of luxury will be about reclaiming our
space and
time, and feeling safe whilst benefiting those less fortunate.
With this in mind, we are delighted to invite you to a discussion
with Charles Handy as detailed in this newsletter. Our
understanding of luxury and the luxury markets appear to
reflect the social entrepreneurs that Mr Handy writes about in
his new book 'The New Philanthropists'.
An excerpt from FT.com reads: ?There have always been
generous individuals among the very rich, although most of
them have inherited their money?, writes Mr Handy, ?but we
are now witnessing the emergence of some serious business
people who have made their own wealth, are still in mid-career
and have talents and skills to apply to its use.?
Mr Handy argues that ?cultures change slowly but, as more
examples of the new generosity emerge, we could see the
marriage of altruism and capitalism that would provide
capitalism with an acceptable human face and do a lot to
ensure its future."
And even though new philanthropy may stay a niche sector, Mr
Handy believes its values could change the perception of
business from being a largely selfish occupation to being one
that benefits society.
