 Prayer Points

Thank you for praying for Canada today!

1. Pray for the Hon. Lawrence Cannon, our Foreign Minister, and the Hon. Peter MacKay the Minister of Defence as they walk out our relationship with the nation of Afghanistan and give direction to our military.  Let's pray that the sacrifices that our troops are making would have a lasting impact for the good of that society.

2. Let's pray for the success of Bill C-268 on Human Trafficking. (See the full story and links to further resources in the right-hand column of this newsletter.)
Let's pray that M.P. Joy Smith will have a good rapport with members of all parties as she lobbies for their support.

3. Please continue to pray for the plans for the National Prayer Breakfast as the invitations go out and hundreds of people respond to this special event.  We ask for the Lord's great blessing on this effort coming up on May 28, 2009 and on M.P. David Anderson and his staff as well as the Hon. Jack Murta as they organize all the details.

4. Thank you for praying for us at the National House of Prayer.  Many days we can feel the power of your prayers as we experience the favour of God on the work we are doing here in Ottawa.

If you read our daily blog we give you lots of extra stuff to pray for on a regular basis.

We Blog

We write a daily blog to provide resources for your prayer life.

In the last couple of weeks we have blogged about ...

- visiting teams from Peterborough, Ont. and Morden, Man.

- Healing the Land

- writing "Collects"

- quoted Archbishop Thomas Cranmer

- explained about how Politicians have fun

and reported on the Street Level conference.

Why not bookmark it so you can check it out every day?

 Greetings,

Our team have been travelling around Ontario over the last couple of weeks in between the visiting prayer teams who we have been hosting.  Fran Parker spoke to a Ladies Breakfast in Pembroke, Rob Parker and Jeremiah Smith ministered in London over the past weekend, and Richard and Terry Long led a Pastors' Prayer Summit in Hamilton and then spoke to intercessors at TACF in Toronto.

This week we had 2 day teams.  One was a group of 14 Homeschoolers from St. Thomas, Ont. and the other were 13 from the Salvation Army here in Ottawa.  We also had a week-long team from Morden, Manitoba and another individual join them for the week from Slave Lake, Alberta.  The picture below shows the Manitoba group visiting with their M.P. from Portage-Lisgar, Candice Hoeppner and her family.

You can read more about what goes on here from day to day on our regular NHOP Blog. Especially check out blogs that our interns wrote this week!

Human Trafficking

There is much happening and much to pray about at this time.  M.P. Joy Smith's private member's  Bill C-268 has been moved up in the Legislative calendar.  A second debate took place this week and a vote is scheduled for April 22nd which we hope will send it to the Committee stage.  Although support is growing in the House of Commons there is still a great need to pray that more members of all parties will get behind this legislation.

This week will see the official launch of Exodus Cry Canada, a prayer ministry dedicated to the human trafficking issue.  Jason Parks will share the vision here at NHOP on April 9th at 7:30 PM.  All local intercessors are invited to attend.

There are also great resources for your prayer group at the MyCanada website, the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, and at Exodus Cry Canada and Exodus Cry in the U.S.

We have set the dates for this summer's high school camp here at NHOP.  We are moving it to the first weekend of the summer, June 28-July 4 which will allow us to celebrate Canada Day in Ottawa.  Check out our website for more details.

Blessings on your Holy Week.

cross  As we all head into a very special week on the Christian Calendar, we pray that you and your family will have a deeper revelation of the love of God demonstrated in the sufferings, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.

 Representing you in Ottawa,
