 Prayer Points

Here are some thoughts for you as you "pray for those in authority."

1. As each day's news brings more reports of job losses and business failures, let's continue to pray for our Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his team as they respond to the crisis.

2. Let's pray that good fruit will come from the new friendship between Ottawa and Washington.  Pray that border concerns and trade issues will be quickly resolved.

3. As we unite our hearts in prayer with those who have traveled to St. John's, Nfld this weekend, let's ask the Lord to pour out a spirit of supplication on our nation.

If you read our daily blog we give you lots of extra stuff to pray for on a regular basis.

 Greetings,

We've had an exciting week here in Ottawa with the visit of President Obama.  Along with many hours spent in our prayer room, some of our team joined thousands of others as the motorcade pulled up to Parliament Hill.

Rob Parker and Richard Long had a great time at Camp Iawah leading a prayer retreat for Ottawa pastors during the week.  Fran Parker and Joan Jones are spending the weekend in Newfoundland to participate in "TheCry", while Terry Long speaks at a Women's Breakfast in Pembroke, Ont.  We all enjoy getting out and meeting new friends at these events.

Plan ahead for the National Prayer Breakfast on May 28.  If you would like to receive an official invitation to this event you should contact MP David Anderson's office at anderda5@parl.gc.ca or fax 613-992-5508 ASAP.

Pastors, we are setting aside the week of the Prayer Breakfast as a special Pastors' Week here at NHOP.  Space is limited, so please call ASAP if you want to reserve your spot for May 25-29

Pray Parliament
 Parliament Prayer Post
(A New Daily Resource)

Today is the official launch of a new resource to help you pray specifically for our parliamentarians!

Every day we will feature a different M.P., Senator or Supreme Court Judge on this new website - Parliament Prayer Post.  Our hope is that you will bookmark this resource and check it regularly as we pray alphabetically for 422 government leaders.

Here's a sample of what it will look like ...

Jim Abbot
February 20, 2009
Jim Abbot
The Honourable Jim Abbot is the M.P. for Kootenay-Columbia in B.C.  A member of the Conservative Party this is his sixth term in Parliament.

He serves as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation and sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee, both very significant international roles.

He is married to Jeannette and they have 3 children.

Let's pray that Jim Abbot would enjoy good health, and that the Lord would bless his marriage and his family.  Pray that the Lord would give him great wisdom and healthy relationships with his parliamentary colleagues.  May the Lord use him to bring wise strategies in our relations with foreign nations especially in the Asia-Pacific.  May he represent the citizens of Kootenay-Columbia well and be responsive to their needs.

You can learn more about the Hon. Jim Abbot at his official website.
