This is a very important week for us to covering our Government in prayer.
 
1. Pray for all our MP's as they arrive back in Ottawa for Monday's re-opening of Parliament that there will be a new attitude about dealing with the huge challenges facing our nation.
 
2. Let's continue to pray for Prime Minister Stephen Harper as he and his team present a very critical budget on Jan. 27th.
 
3. Pray for the new interim leader of the Liberal Party - Michael Ignatieff as he needs wisdom about the way that his party will interact with all the other parties in the coming weeks.
 
4. Pray for the 18 new Senators who will be stepping into their new roles on Jan. 26th as well, that they will quickly adjust and begin making good contributions to our nation.
 
5. Whatever your opinion on the war in Afghanistan, we all need to uphold our military in prayer.  Please pray for our troops and their families and consider organizing a prayer vigil in your city on Feb. 7th.
 
If you read our daily blog we give you lots of extra stuff to pray for on a regular basis.

Why We Blog

 

  In the time period between our newsletters a lot can happen in Ottawa.

   We keep a daily blog going to highlight current issues that need prayer or items that may fuel your own intercessory life.
 
This week we blogged about the war in Gaza, the U.S. Presidential Inauguration and the state of the coalition in our own Parliament. 

Dozens of people have "bookmarked" our blog and read it every day.

    We are gearing up for the return of Parliament this coming Monday, with a mini-Throne Speech and a major Budget presentation on the Tuesday.  Most of you don't need to be reminded that extra prayer is required because of the instability of the current minority Government.  Please see our "Prayer Points" in this newsletter.
 
   This weekend we are running a National School of Intercession, in conjunction with Cityscape Prayer Ministries, in Saskatoon with about 50 local intercessors.  Next weekend we are in Vancouver from Jan. 29-31 and also presenting a booth at Missionsfest.    You can download the poster and application form from our website. We still have room in our Vancouver school next week.

Next Nazarite Program begins on March 13, 2009 

  We are looking for 10-12 young adults who know that the Lord is calling them to set aside a season of their life to pray for our nation.  If you are between the ages of 18 and 35 and are willing to join our NHOP community for 14 weeks, please give us a call.

 NHOP for a Day
 
   From time to time we organize special day opportunities for people in the Ottawa region.  Our next "NHOP for a Day" will be Feb. 12th starting at 9:30 AM.  The experience includes some training, a great lunch and a prayer session onsite at Question Period up on Parliament Hill. Cost is $15.

3rd Annual Prayer Vigil for the Canadian Military and their Families

Saturday Feb. 7th at 5:00 PM
 
The Military Christian Fellowship and the National House of Prayer invite people to gather at the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill, Ottawa to lift up in prayer the Military family.
 
We invite people to gather in homes, churches, armouries, wherever, on the same day and lift up in prayer our military and their families.  Please let us know if you will meet and how many gathered by emailing at mcfprayer@mcf-canada.ca 
 
There is a downloadable poster at our website that you could place on your congregation's bulletin board.

    Have you considered bringing a prayer team to Ottawa?  We have all the detailed information about what it is like to spend a week with us, and all the answers to your questions at our website. 
 
  Specifically we are still looking for teams for February 9-13 and 16-20.  Call us right away at  613-789-4907 if you think you have a group ready to come.
