 Join with thousands who are praying for Canada's 40th Parliament.

 
  Your prayers are making a difference!
 
1. Continue to pray for a new atmosphere in the House of Commons.
We have been encouraged by the attempts to keep the decorum at a higher level this session.
 
2. Let's pray for the Speaker of the House - the honourable Peter Milliken.  He has been returned to this critical position which determines much of the environment in which politics is done on the Hill.
 
3.Pray for the new Parliamentary Committees.  These all-party committees experienced a lot of dysfunction in the last Parliament.  Pray for a good mix of people that will have a will to work together.  Committee make-up and selection of the various chairs for all these groups is still under way.  They are just beginning to sit.
 
4. Keep praying for the newcomers.  Key connections are now being made and followers of Jesus are finding each other.   They need lots of wisdom as they adjust.
 
4. Pray for the new Cabinet.  There are a number of "rookies" who must quickly learn about their portfolios and key staff. We have a detailed list of the Cabinet that we can email you for your daily prayers.
 
If you read our daily blog we give you lots of extra stuff to pray for on a regular basis.
 
 
 
 Looking for Prayer Missionaries

In January and February of 2009 we are looking for short term Prayer Missionaries who could come and help us keep the flames of intercession burning on the altar of prayer.  This is an interim period for us at NHOP as we head into our next Nazarite program.  Longer term prayer ministry may be possible for those who qualify.

    With the start of the 40th Parliament, life around NHOP has become a whirlwind.  We've also been doing a lot of travelling as a team.
 
    Richard was in PEI this last weekend facilitating an Island Leaders Retreat, while Rob & Fran have been out west and participated in a launch breakfast for the Saskatchewan House of Prayer in Regina.  Last weekend they also took our Nazarites with them to speak with about 50 students at McGill Christian Fellowship in Montreal. (see picture below)  They toured the St. Joseph Oratory and did some shopping on Ste. Catherine St as well.

   This weekend some of the Nazarites head to a Gen-X Gathering near Orillia and others will accompany our team to Barrie as we lead another NHOP School of Prayer.  (It's not too late to attend.)
 
   By the way we now have two dates for our National School of Intercession in 2009.  We will be in Saskatoon during Jan. 22-24, and in Vancouver from Jan. 29-31 as usual teaming up with Cityscape Prayer Ministries on these equipping events.  You can download the posters by clicking on the dates above.
 
 
 
 This Week at NHOP
The Josiah Team

  We've been joined by 22 young adults who make up the Josiah Team from My Canada.  That's right, we have Faytene Kryskow and her team onsite along with our 20 or so regular residents and staff, so we are maxed!  Worshipping, praying, and eating together is a feast.
 
  The Josiah Team are meeting with 40-50 M.P.s and Senators during their campaign.  They are also hosting a reception in the Parliament Ballroom in order to meet others on the Hill.
 
  Please pray for the lasting effect of their testimonies on the deliberations of our Parliamentarians. 
 
 
Our Next Nazarite Program will commence on March 13, 2009

  We are looking for 12 -15 young adults who know that the Lord is calling them to set aside a season of their life to pray for our nation.  If you are between the ages of 18 and 35 and are willing to join our NHOP community for 14 weeks, please give us a call.

 Stay in touch ...

  We are so grateful for all the prayers that go up to heaven for us.  We are entirely dependent on the Lord for all the opportunities and provisions that He gives us. 

  It's been wonderful to meet so many of our supporters and prayer partners as we have been travelling in different parts of Canada.  Someone on our team has been in almost every province this Fall. We will also be in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland before the end of the year.
 
  It's not too early to start planning your prayer team's trip to Ottawa in 2009.  Weeks are beginning to fill up.
