Prayer Points

Join with thousands who are praying for Canada's 40th Parliamentary election.

A number of critical processes take place in the weeks leading up to a new session.

1. Pray for the formation of the new Parliamentary Committees.  These all-party committees experienced a lot of dysfunction in the last Parliament.  Pray for a good mix of people that will have a will to work together.

2. Keep praying for the newcomers.  Besides trying to figure out all the new systems and protocols, these new M.P.s have to find a place to stay and hire new staff.  They need lots of grace and great discernment.

3. Pray for the next Speaker of the House.  M.P.s elect their Speaker on the first day that they sit. (Nov. 18th)  We expect several members will be lobbying for votes ahead of this date.

4. Pray for the new Cabinet that has now been chosen. All of the Parliamentary Secretaries will be decided by this weekend. We have a detailed list of the Cabinet that we can email you for your daily prayers.

If you read our daily blog we give you lots of extra stuff to pray for on a regular basis.

We are Looking for Prayer Missionaries

nhop letterhead
In January and February of 2009 we are looking for short term Prayer Missionaries who could come and help us keep the flames of intercession burning on the altar of prayer.  This is an interim period for us at NHOP as we head into our next Nazarite program.

If you are interested in this opportunity please give us a call to get more details.

We Blog!

In recent days we blogged about specific prayer targets for the new Parliament, visits with M.P.s, ministry trips and insights into a life of prayer.

Greetings,

Our whole team took the 5 hour trip last weekend to join with 25,000 others at the Rogers Centre for "Heaven's Rehearsal".  What an amazing worship experience. (see picture below)

Remembrance Day Suggestion

War Memorial
If your church is looking for a good way to honour our military personnel we have a great suggestion that comes to us via the Military Christian Fellowship in Canada.

"Why not send a note of encouragement to someone presently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces? The Canadian Bible Society has a long history with the Forces.  In the First World War we distributed over 400,000 New Testaments.  In World War Two we distributed over 700,000 New Testaments.

This tradition continued up until 2007 when we began to distribute full-length Bibles. (We have currently distributed over 20,000 copies of this Bible and are now awaiting a second print run.)

This Remembrance Day Sunday you can distribute 3 x 5 cards to members of your congregation, and have them write a short note of encouragement to members of the Canadian Armed Forces.  These notes will then be distributed along with the Bibles that are given to the Armed Forces."

To participate call Don Miller at 613-236-3910

Stay in touch ...

Some of you may have the chance to meet up with our directors Rob & Fran Parker when they are out in Lethbridge, AB, Regina and Estevan, SK next weekend.

This weekend Rob has taken 6 of our Nazarites to Sudbury to attend a "Watchmen for the Nations" event and speak in Hanmer, Ont. on Sunday.

It's not too early to start planning your prayer team's trip to Ottawa in 2009.  Weeks are beginning to fill up.
